A few days ago, the news of the suspension of delivery of some BMW B48 engine models on the Internet caused a heated discussion on the Internet. The specific situation is that the engine needs to be replaced due to the defects of engine balance shaft bearings in the vehicle, and the dealer needs to stop delivering some models equipped with B46 and B48 engines after the spontaneous letter.

I learned from multiple sources that a suspected email from BMW (China) to BMW authorized dealers involved that only 67 vehicles were within the scope of stopping delivery, including long shaft 7 series (G12), standard shaft 3 series (G20), long shaft 3 series (G28), Z4 (G29).

There is a problem with the balance shaft bearing of one engine in the B48 engine of the 67 vehicles involved in the suspension of delivery. the bearings in the affected B48 engine may not be strong enough, resulting in premature bearing wear and possible damage to the engine. and the engine may stall while driving. The affected vehicles need to change their engines to solve the problem.

Previously, it has been exposed online that BMW overseas markets have recalled G0X (X model), G1X (7 series), G2X (3 series) and G3X (5 series) models because the bearing defects in the affected B46/B48 engines are the same.

In response to this matter, I consulted BMW's official customer service, and the reply was: "confirmed by the BMW customer service center, due to engine balance shaft failure, the recall is being carried out on BMW 7-series, 3-series standard axles, 3-series long wheelbase and Z4 models, but the recall is only for models in foreign markets, and the domestic market has not received any recall notice for the time being." At present, BMW officials have not recalled the engine balance shaft for the record.

However, some netizens found that the "balance axis" of the new BMW 3 Series in domestic and foreign markets is only named in different ways, and the drawings are the same, which shows that the parts at home and abroad are the same. Therefore, if there is a recall in Europe because of a defect in the balance shaft, there is no reason not to recall in China.

According to the attached list of 67 models involved, there are three kinds of frame numbers, namely, LBV5F, LBV6P and WBA7T.

According to the calibration method of vehicle identification code of the people's Republic of China, it can be known that LBV is a BMW made in China and WBA is a BMW made in Germany. In other words, the vehicles involved in engine replacement include both BMW models imported from Germany and BMW models produced by brilliance.

However, BMW said the "suspension" was a "own incident" misread by the outside world. In its reply, BMW said that only 67 vehicles were involved in recent letters to dealers requesting a suspension of delivery, and that most of the 67 vehicles in the batch had not yet been delivered to end users. There are only 67 vehicles involved in the country, and most of them remain at dealers and have not yet been delivered to users. BMW said in an interview with reporters that the normal sales of all BMW models have not been affected.

According to the new BMW 3-Series, which went on sale on June 22 this year, more than 8000 vehicles have been sold in September, based on sales in recent months.

The recall and replacement of engine parts not only takes time and effort, but also has an impact on BMW's reputation. If the problem were not serious, BMW would not have recalled it. However, no matter how difficult the reality is, BMW's global recall has begun. However, for the domestic recall has not been seen for the time being, the internal recall can not be ruled out.
