AutoBeta(AutoBeta.net)11/06 Report--

At the end of 2018, Toyota and Subaru announced recalls of 400000 vehicles worldwide, of which Subaru recalled Subaru XV, Forest Man, Wing Leopard and Subaru BRZ sports cars made between January 2012 and October 2013, and Toyota recalled 80, 000 Toyota 86 and ScionFR-S sports cars made between 2012 and 2013. The reason for the recall is that the spring in the engine valve may break, causing the vehicle to stall, thus causing a traffic accident.

At that time, Toyota and Subaru also filed with the State Administration of Market Supervision and Administration in China, in which Subaru recalled some imported forest people, XV and BRZ series vehicles, totaling 25641, and Toyota recalled some imported Toyota 86 vehicles, totaling 574.

However, according to foreign media reports, Toyota and Subaru are facing a class action lawsuit because after the possible fracture of the spring of the engine valve was repaired, the problems increased rather than decreased, increasing the risk of engine failure and, in extreme cases, causing the vehicle to catch fire.

The class action pointed out that the recall not only did not avoid the risk, but also increased the risk that the spring in the engine valve could break and other engine failure, damage to the car engine, and increased the risk of vehicle stagnation.

The lawsuit, led by Carlson Lynch, requires U.S. car owners or renters of Subaru Scion FR-S in 2013, Subaru BRZ in 2013, Subaru Impreza in 2012-2014 and Subaru XV Crosstrek in 2013 to contact relevant law firms.

Due to the increasing number of vehicle recalls, in March, the US Center for Automobile Safety questioned Toyota and Subaru's effective maintenance of engine valve springs and asked Toyota and Subaru to stop repairs until they figured out the source of the problem. DerrellLyles, a spokesman for the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, said they had communicated with manufacturers and would pay attention to whether further measures were needed to address existing safety concerns.

In response to the above news, Toyota said: "customer safety is a top priority and will respond to the allegations of litigation in the forum." Subaru said, "the lawsuit has just been received and it is not possible to comment at this time."

It is worth noting that although Toyota and Subaru have also conducted recalls in China, there have not been a large number of complaints from owners of related models in China, and we will continue to pay attention to this matter.
