On November 8, BMW (China) Automobile Trading Co., Ltd., brilliance BMW Co., Ltd., in accordance with the requirements of the regulations on the Administration of defective Automobile products recall and the measures for the implementation of defective Automobile products recall, filed the recall plan with the State Administration of Market Supervision and Administration, recalling a total of 67 vehicles from December 16, 2019.

Recall models:

(1) BMW (China) Automobile Trading Co., Ltd. recalled a total of 18 imported BMW 730Li and Z4 vehicles produced during the period from February 12, 2019 to May 29, 2019;

(2) brilliance BMW Co., Ltd. recalled a total of 49 domestic brilliance BMW 325i and 325Li vehicles produced from May 21, 2019 to September 24, 2019.

Reasons for recall:

The needle roller bearing outer ring of the vehicle engine balance shaft within the scope of this recall may not be correctly pressed into the engine crankcase, and the bearing outer ring may be protruded from the crankcase during engine operation. This may cause the balance shaft to become loose and come into contact with the crankshaft, interfere, and cause damage to the engine crankshaft and / or cylinder block, which may cause engine oil leakage if the engine is seriously damaged. In the worst case, the engine flameout in the process of vehicle driving can not be ruled out, which will reduce the maneuverability of the vehicle and there are hidden dangers.

Solution:

BMW (China) Automobile Trading Co., Ltd. and brilliance BMW Motor Co., Ltd. will replace engines for vehicles within the scope of the recall free of charge to eliminate safety risks.

BMW (China) Automobile Trading Co., Ltd., brilliance BMW Co., Ltd. will notify relevant users in the form of registered letter or Internet driving news.

It can be seen that the manufacturer specially issued a document to notify the dealer to suspend the delivery of the car, which is a common behavior before the vehicle defect is found and the recall action is initiated.
