The front airbag in the driver's seat of the vehicle within the scope of this recall is equipped with an ammonium nitrate gas generator without desiccant produced by Takata. Changan Ford Motor Co., Ltd. will replace the improved airbag module on the front of the driver's seat for vehicles within the recall area free of charge to eliminate safety risks.

When it comes to Takata airbags, many car owners are no stranger, because the car brands recalled due to Takata airbag problems are not in a small number. It can be said that the recall caused by Takata airbags is the largest safety recall in the automobile industry. It is understood that the Takata airbag recall began in 2008, involving 19 car manufacturers. The main reason for the recall is that Takata airbag contains ammonium nitrate, which will become extremely unstable if exposed to high temperature and humidity for a long time, resulting in hidden dangers such as explosion and flying out of metal fragments after bursting, resulting in casualties.

At the beginning of this year, Ford announced a worldwide recall of 953000 vehicles due to problems with Takata airbags, including 782000 in the United States and 150000 in Canada. In the same month, Toyota also announced a worldwide recall of 1.7 million vehicles, involving models of Takata airbag devices there are safety risks.

In the Chinese market, there are not a few recalls caused by Takata airbags, including Toyota, Honda, BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Ferrari, Lexus and so on. It can be said that all car brands carrying Takata airbags are not immune from the recall.

On September 17, Toyota filed with the State Administration of Market Supervision and decided to recall a total of 357 imported Lexus SC430 vehicles produced from May 23, 2005 to January 19, 2010.

On September 17, Tianjin FAW Toyota filed with the State Administration of Market Supervision and decided to recall 125825 Weichi cars produced from April 16, 2003 to January 30, 2008, and 313028 Corolla EX vehicles from January 7, 2004 to December 25, 2008, totaling 438853 vehicles.

Mercedes-Benz (China) Automobile sales Co., Ltd., Beijing Mercedes-Benz Automobile Co., Ltd. and Fujian Mercedes-Benz Automobile Co., Ltd. expanded the recall of a total of 199623 C-Class, E-Class, R-Class, GLK-Class, SLS-Class, Weiting, Viano and Ling cars.

The Takata airbag incident not only caused the largest recall in the history of the automobile industry, but also directly led to the bankruptcy of Takata. It is understood that Takata airbag manufacturer Takata of Japan was founded in 1933 and is mainly engaged in the research and development of automobile safety systems and devices, including automobile airbags, steering wheels, seat belts and airbag gas generators, child safety seats, etc. Japan is the second largest manufacturer of automotive safety components in the world, and its products are not only provided to Japanese brands such as Honda, Nissan, Mazda, Mitsubishi Automobile, etc. It also includes Audi, Mercedes-Benz, BMW, General Motors, Hyundai, Ford and many other well-known car companies.

In June 2017, due to product safety issues, Takata finally filed for bankruptcy, and Junsheng Electronics subsequently launched an acquisition. On April 12, 2018, the subsidiary Gusheng Security Systems (JSS) successfully settled the assets of Takata, Japan, at a price of US $1.588 billion.

Although Takata has gone bankrupt, the problem of airbags produced by Takata has not been solved, and it has been recalled many times at home and abroad. at present, many cars are still deeply troubled by its safety.
