"everyone admires Tesla, but we think Tesla is sometimes too radical to keep up with safe things," Shen Hui, founder of Weima Automobile, said of Tesla at the Fortune Global Technology Forum in 2019.
After Shen Hui said this paragraph, he was ridiculed by netizens and even sprayed by netizens. And some netizens commented, "ridicule the failure of the test 99 with a score of 10?" Another netizen commented, "Why do you still speak ill of your parents when you plagiarize?" Can't you admit the excellence of others? What a shame.
It is worth noting that Tesla announced on his official account last month that the Model 3 standard battery life upgrade model officially opened the reservation, along with a poster of the rear of the domestic Model 3 car. Who knows, on the same day, Weibo was posted against Tesla with the caption "Sorry Tesla, made in ≠ made in China". The picture is basically the same as Tesla, except that the model is replaced by EX5.
On the same day, after Weimar released the Weibo, it was also widely praised by netizens. The comments were full of comments that Weimar would only say that it would not do it, and dared to deal with Standard Tesla without solving continuous navigation and quality problems. Tesla did not pay any attention to it at all.
Shen Hui said that Tesla's safe things did not keep up, but in fact, Weimar's products were not any better.
Many car owners reported that the official comprehensive range of the Weimar EX5 400s was about 400km, but the actual range was only about 200km, nearly half of the gap with the propaganda. In addition, there is a power outage in the EX5. If the car is left unopened for one night, it will lose 26% of the power. If the car is fully charged and does not turn on for 3 days, the power will directly drop to 0.
However, as a pure electric vehicle, the mileage also has something to do with the actual environment, and the problem of power loss is inevitable, which will exist in pure electric vehicles more or less.
In addition to problems with battery life and charging, Weimar EX5 has also experienced spontaneous combustion. On August 25, 2018, a Weima EX5 caught fire and burst into flames at the Weima Research Institute, causing consumers to worry about the quality of Weima cars. The next day, Weimar responded that it was a scrapped test car that had undergone many rounds of destructive tests, which led to spontaneous combustion.
On September 23, a Weimar EX5 burst into flames in Wenzhou, causing black smoke and raging flames. Two hours later, Weimar responded on its official Weibo account, confirming that the self-igniting vehicle was the Weima EX5, and that the battery pack loaded with the vehicle did not catch fire or explode during the combustion, nor did the accident cause any casualties or other property damage. And then there's no more.
Affected by the EX5 Wenzhou spontaneous combustion incident, Weimar's delivery volume began to decline significantly in September. Data show that Weima delivered 1344 vehicles in September, a sharp drop of 38.21% from the previous month to 12656 from January to September, a far cry from the annual delivery target of 100000.
Compared with Tesla's record sales, 255200 vehicles were delivered in the first three quarters of this year, more than in the whole of 2018.
In the case of low sales of Weima Automobile, Shen Hui does not plan to lower the sales target. Shen Hui has said that people are worried that Model 3 will impact the new domestic car-building brands after entering the Chinese market, but if they see the background of the new car-building forces and the development history of China's automobile industry, they may not be afraid. Weimar's valuation should exceed Tesla.
In addition to the above problems, Geely said Weimar copied its model and sued four Weima companies for financial compensation of up to 2.1 billion yuan, according to a CCTV financial report.
