AutoBeta(AutoBeta.net)11/09 Report--
With the decline of the overall car market and the trend of upgrading the consumption structure, the luxury car market is growing against the trend, with sales of luxury brands led by Mercedes-Benz and BMW Audi rising for several months in a row, thus driving the luxury car market higher.
After the October sales announcement, BMW once again won the first monthly luxury car with more than 61000 vehicles, but Mercedes-Benz remained in the lead from January to October. Audi continued to catch up in the second half of the year, but the overall growth rate was still low and lagging behind.
The rising momentum of BMW continues. In October, BMW sold 61400 vehicles in China, up 8.8% from a year earlier. From January to October, BMW sold 587417 new cars, a year-on-year increase of 13.8%, an increase of double digits, very close to Mercedes-Benz's sales.
According to the vehicle model data released by the Federation of passengers, the BMW 5-Series and X3 have become the main drivers of BMW's growth, while sales of the new 3-Series continue to rise, but still decline compared with the same period last year. Among them, the terminal sales of the BMW 5-Series in October were 15000, up 19% from January to October, up 6.3% from January to October. The BMW X3 sold 10, 000 units in October, up 75% from the same period last year. The new 3-Series sold 8594 vehicles in October, down 19.4% from the same period last year. With the increase in terminal offers and the gradual increase in production capacity, the BMW 3-Series still has room to rise.
Audi, which has sold more than 60,000 units for two months in a row, is still trying to close the gap with BMW-Benz. Audi sold 60154 vehicles in China (including Hong Kong) in October, up 6.0 per cent from a year earlier. The cumulative sales from January to October were 551194, up 2.1 per cent from a year earlier.
After the launch of Audi's new products in the first half of the year, the price failed to meet market expectations, resulting in a decline in sales, and price cuts in the second half of the year played a role. Audi A6L sales returned to normal at 13447 in October, compared with 96186 in the previous month, a year-on-year decline of 17.5 per cent. Audi Q5L won the luxury SUV championship in October, with sales of 13700 vehicles, up 52.9 per cent year-on-year to 110150 vehicles from January to October, an increase of 8.1 per cent. Next, Audi needs to increase the sales of Q3 and A3.
Mercedes-Benz year-on-year growth is also good, but continue to face the offensive of BMW, can win the annual championship is still in doubt. In October, Mercedes-Benz sold 57761 vehicles, up 12 per cent from a year earlier and the fourth consecutive month of double-digit growth. From January to October, Mercedes-Benz sold 591002 new cars, up 5 per cent from a year earlier.
In terms of models, both the E-Class and C-Class of Mercedes-Benz sold 13000 vehicles in October, a double-digit increase over the same period last year. Mercedes-Benz GLC sold 12508 vehicles, an increase of 30.2% over the same period last year, with a total of 115365 vehicles in the first month, temporarily ranking first in luxury SUV. In terms of new cars, the EQC, Beijing Mercedes-Benz's first pure electric car, has gone on sale at a price of 57.98-622800 yuan, filling the gap in new energy products; in addition, the domestic Mercedes-Benz compact SUV-GLB is expected to be available by the end of the year, with a 1.3T four-cylinder engine in the main model.
According to the statistics of Sang Zhiwei, an expert from the China Automobile Circulation Association, the average price of new cars among Mercedes-Benz brand dealers is about 461000 yuan, that of BMW brand dealers is about 401000 yuan, and that of Audi brand is about 299000 yuan. This further confirms the current situation of Audi terminal price reduction, while volume models should be medium-and low-end products.
Taken together, Mercedes-Benz and BMW will compete for the top spot in 2019. At present, the sales gap between the two is relatively small. With more than a month left to meet the target, they will compete for sales and are expected to reach the annual 700000-vehicle mark. Audi achieved remarkable results in price reduction and promotion in the second half of the year, and sales recovered quickly, but there is a big gap between Audi and Mercedes-Benz and BMW. If there is no accident, it will be a pity to lose the championship this year.
