According to the October production and sales report released by GAC GROUP, Guangzhou Automobile BYD new energy bus had no production in October and sales volume was zero. In fact, in 2019, Guangzhou Automobile BYD had no production or sales in most natural months, and there was a production and sales peak in July, when it produced 44 units and sold 44 units. In the first 10 months, Guangzhou Auto BYD produced a total of 49 units, down nearly 99% from the same period last year, while sales of 53 units also fell by nearly 99%.

At the end of February this year, a red-headed document of Guangzhou Automobile BYD New Energy bus Co., Ltd. was circulated on the Internet, which mentioned that "according to the company's current production and operation arrangements", holiday arrangements will be made for the front-line personnel of the production department, the quality department and the planning department from March 1, 2019 to May 31, 2019.

The document also mentioned that "if there is a need for support from other factories during the holiday period, employees can voluntarily sign up for it. The salary and treatment during the holiday period shall be implemented in accordance with the wage payment regulations of Guangdong Province." In addition, "during the holiday period, if the company's production tasks are assigned, the company will notify the early end of the holiday time."

BYD responded to the media at that time that there was a relatively obvious off-peak season in the new energy bus industry, due to the recent off-season in production, in line with the principle of responsible and user-friendly management of employees, and on the premise of respecting the wishes of employees. Guangzhou Automobile BYD joint venture adjusts the work of some production line staff (supporting factory production or paid short holidays in BYD's Shenhui area). This is only a short-term behavior of the joint venture company in order to adapt to the production situation. The joint venture is operating normally and will arrange full production during the peak production season to maintain confidence in the overall sales and operation in 2019. In addition, BYD Group has sufficient orders for many new energy vehicles and is optimistic about the development prospects and growth space of the new energy vehicle business.

Judging from the production situation of Guangzhou Automobile BYD, it has not yet jumped out of the so-called "production off-season". In fact, the market capacity of new energy bus and bus is small, and the competition is fierce, so it is generally produced according to order. Guangzhou Automobile BYD is mainly aimed at pure electric buses in Guangdong, especially in Guangzhou. No new order is added after the order is completed, which is the direct cause of the suspension of production.

Guangzhou BYD mainly produces new energy buses. According to the winning bid of Guangzhou bus in 2018, the order value of BYD's Guangzhou pure electric bus project in 2018 exceeded 5.5 billion yuan, winning the bidding projects of "3138 units in 2018" and "1672 sets in 2018" respectively. According to the production and sales report, Guangzhou Automobile BYD sold 5046 vehicles in 2018, a sharp increase of 222.02 per cent over the same period last year.

From the three-month holiday to zero production and sales, the development of Guangzhou Automobile BYD does not seem to be so smooth.
