Recently, the US Patent and Trademark Office announced two patent applications from Apple called "embedded sensors".

One of the patents attempts to improve the way sensors work by relying on light emitters. Apple said that if the sensor and the light transmitter are surrounded by a shell, the sensor may be affected by the light transmitter, thus affecting the way it works.

The second patent application, entitled "automatically capturing image data of points of interest", mainly covers how self-driving cars identify areas of the environment that are worth understanding, such as other road users or road signs. After determining the existence of such factors, the image acquisition and processing system can store the data locally and share such data with other systems used to maintain vehicle transportation.

According to the patent application document, the processing system can automatically determine the point of interest by analyzing the vehicle image and the data received by the sensor system. This kind of data can include panoramic images, 3D reconstructed scene images, etc., and 3D reconstructed scene images are more useful for road fixtures. The system can also be triggered by a user's request to record scene information, enabling it to capture special moments or environments, or more practical, accident-related data. Users can also require that the image data be exported to other devices or edited before being saved in the cloud.
