AutoBeta(AutoBeta.net)11/13 Report--

It is reported that the Volvo S60L, which has been going on for many years, will finally stop production in mid-December (week 51). As the first domestic S60L was mass-produced in Chengdu on November 5, 2013, Volvo Chengdu has produced more than 135100 S60L models for the global market since 2013.

In fact, when the S60 was launched in 2010, Geely had just completed its acquisition of Volvo at a cost of about 12 billion yuan. At that time, the car's technology platform was shared with Ford, not the SPA platform mainly used by Volvo today.

Until 2013, Geely made Volvo domestically and named it S60L, which only lengthened its appearance and modified the details of its front face, which has not been replaced for nine years. To further lower the threshold for buying, Volvo later added a 1.5T three-cylinder turbocharged engine.

Today, the S60L has undergone several changes, but in terms of shape and platform architecture, the current S60L still stays on the design philosophy of the previous generation of Volvo, and even if the price falls below 200000, it still looks inadequate, and less than 2000 cars are sold each month. In response, Volvo finally felt that it had stopped production.

In fact, the new generation of Volvo S60 has been available for a long time, and the overseas version of the full new version of S60 has already been listed in the United States, but the domestic market has not been listed. The latest news indicates that the new domestically made S60 will be pre-sold at the Guangzhou Auto Show, which opens on the 22nd of this month, and will be officially put on sale in December.

The new Volvo S60 is based on the SPA architecture and uses the family's latest design language, which is similar to the S90 as a whole. Although it is named S60, its body size is longer than the current S60L. The new car will provide T3, T4, T5 and T8 plug-in hybrid systems, and the transmission system is expected to still match the 8-speed hand-integrated gearbox.

Many consumers have been waiting for the new S60 for a long time. After all, the appearance of the new S60 can be accepted by consumers, as can be seen from Volvo's S90, but it is also noted that the body price of the S90 over 5 meters has fallen to less than 300000. As for how the new S60 will be priced on the market, it will directly affect its future sales.

Volvo, a Swedish brand, was popular in northern Europe for some time in the last century, but was on the verge of bankruptcy due to mismanagement, thanks to Geely's financial acquisition. Sales have also continued to rise with the "price for volume" strategy, with Volvo Group's global sales rising 13.9 per cent in October from a year earlier to 60959 vehicles. Sales in the first ten months of this year totaled 568663, up 8.1 per cent from a year earlier. Although net profit has fallen from before, it is still profitable, with operating profits of 108.9 Swedish kronor (about 8 billion yuan) in the third quarter of this year, up 6.2 per cent from a year earlier.
