Changan Ford seems to have had a difficult life in China in recent years, and it has been difficult to recover from the decline in sales since 2017.

According to data, Changan automobile sales in October were 164018, down 0.9% from the same period last year. From January to October this year, Changan automobile sales totaled 1389897, down 21.5% from the same period last year. Even under the blessing of "Silver Ten", the decline in sales of Changan Ford has not improved.

In the eyes of consumers, Changan Ford does not seem to have any popular models except Mondeo, Ruijie and Fox, and these three models do not sell well in the Chinese market. Mondeo has not been updated for a long time, but the Fox uses a three-cylinder engine, so the quality of the sharp boundary is worrying.

At present, Mondeo and Ruijie account for the largest sales of Changan Ford, but these two models have just been recalled not long ago.

On November 8, Changan Ford filed the recall plan with the State Administration of Market Supervision and Administration, and decided to recall some of the new Mondeos produced between January 4, 2013 and October 11, 2016, totaling 344872 vehicles; and some sharp boundaries produced between September 4, 2014 and June 9, 2017, a total of 203004 vehicles, the recall totaled 547876 vehicles.

The reason for the recall is that there are design defects in the Takata airbag. When the airbag is deployed, the damaged fragments of the gas generator may fly out and injure the personnel in the car, which has certain safety risks.

The fermentation of the recall has made the already poor sales of Changan Ford even worse, but strictly speaking, the recalls of Ruijie and Mondeo are neither Ford's fault nor Changan's fault, but the supplier Takata's fault. Because the recall caused by Takata airbags is not in the minority, basically carrying Takata airbags have been recalled by car companies.

On the other hand, the iterative speed of Changan Ford's product update is too slow, which has become a major topic of complaint among many consumers.

In an effort to save sales, Changan Ford launched three models-the Fox Active, the new Taurus and the new sharp ST/ST Line-in August, but so far, sales have fallen short of Ford's expectations.

Putting aside the problem of slow product renewal, it is the quality problem that really affects the sales of Changan Ford, such as engine oil leakage and flameout, broken shaft and smell in the car.

With regard to the problem of engine flameout and oil leakage, some car owners reported earlier that while waiting for the traffic light, the Fox would suddenly stall and the steering wheel would be locked. Later, after CCTV exposed the problem of focus flameout, Ford began to solve it, but the follow-up new models will still have this problem more or less. In addition, there are engine leaks and other problems, resulting in a sharp decline in Fox sales, Changan Ford brand reputation has also deteriorated.

Compared with engine flameout, the problem of broken shaft is more serious. In Changan Ford, most brands have broken shafts, but the most serious one is the winged tiger.

During the 2013 Guangzhou Auto Show, a large number of car owners defended the rights of Changan Ford over the broken axle of the wing tiger. As a last resort, Chang an Ford filed the recall plan with the AQSIQ on December 27, 2013. Decides to recall a total of 80857 winged tiger vehicles manufactured during the period from 21 September 2012 to 13 November 2013 (inclusive) with effect from 21 February 2014. The reason for the recall is that the front steering knuckle production materials of some wing tiger models do not meet Ford's global material strength standards for the material.

However, the problem of the recall of the rear wing tiger broken shaft was not solved, and then Changan Ford's Yibo, focus, Ruijie, Mondeo and other models also broke the shaft one after another, and Ford's "endless progress" was also ridiculed as "endless".

Then there is the problem of the smell in the Mondeo car. Since 2015, some car owners have reported the existence of the smell in the Mondeo car, which can cause dizziness in serious cases. Today, complaints about the smell inside Mondeo cars can also be seen on the car quality website.

In fact, the rise and fall of Changan Ford's sales in recent years are closely related to product renewal iteration, after-sales service and product quality. at present, Changan Ford's reputation in terms of products has been very long, and it is difficult to repair in a short time. Changan Ford must come up with truly competitive products and satisfactory service in order to re-comb consumers' trust in the Ford brand. But this process also takes time, perhaps more than two years.
