At this year's Shanghai Auto Show, new car-building forces such as NIO, Xiaopeng, Zero, Sailin and Weima all showed concept cars and quasi-production models at the auto show. At the Guangzhou Auto Show half a year later, how far has the new power of car building developed?
On November 22nd, the Guangzhou Auto Show opened at the Canton Fair Pavilion as scheduled. The Guangzhou Auto Show includes nine new car-building forces, including Aichi Motor, Najia Motor, SERES, Skyline Motor, Baiteng Automobile, Future Automobile, Xiaopeng Automobile, Xilai Automobile and Weima Motor, while Zero Motor, Ranger Automobile, Singularity Automobile and ideal Automobile did not participate in the show, eight fewer than the Shanghai Auto Show.
As for the reasons for the absence from the Guangzhou Auto Show, the reasons given by the new car-building forces are not the same. Singularity and ideal cars said they were fully preparing for mass production, and the timing of the auto show coincided with that of mass production.
Ideal did not participate in the auto show, but held the official launch ceremony of the ideal ONE 2020 at the Changzhou base two days before the show, and it is understood that the car will be officially delivered in early December.
Another car company, Singularity Motors, was also absent from the Guangzhou Motor Show. The company was founded in 2014 and is on the same starting line as NIO, Weimar and Xiaopeng, but now Singularity is obviously "lagging behind." According to statistics, Singularity Automobile has completed eight rounds of financing, with a cumulative financing amount of more than 17 billion yuan, but the first model, iS6, has repeatedly postponed mass production, and mass production is still a long way off. In addition, rumors of shareholders'"withdrawal" and arrears of wages have been exposed.
The difference is that the first mass-produced model of zero-running cars has been mass-produced and delivered. It is understood that the first production model of zero-running cars was officially delivered in June this year, with cumulative sales of 509 vehicles from July to September, a far cry from the annual sales target of 10,000 vehicles.
Among the nine new car-building forces participating in the auto show, with the exception of Baiteng Automobile, Aichi Automobile and SERES, other car companies have achieved mass production and delivery. Of the nine new car-building forces, only two launched new models on the basis of mass production, namely the Weima EX6 Plus and the Xiaopeng P7, which were first launched at the auto show and announced their prices.
In addition, several car companies also put the delivery time on the schedule. Nezhu, the first mass-produced car in Nezha, will be delivered at the end of the year with a NEDC range of 500km; Skyline's first mass-produced model, ME7, will be delivered in the first quarter of next year; M-Byte, the first mass-produced model of Baiteng, will be officially mass-produced in mid-2020, with a 48-inch shared comprehensive screen and NEDC mileage of 430km and 550km; Aichi's first all-electric SUV-U5 and new concept car U7 ion are also unveiled. And Selis's Jinkang SF5 will be delayed, or will be officially launched in the first quarter of 2020.
By contrast, the atmosphere at the auto show was somewhat indifferent. No new cars were released at the auto show, and there were only ES6, ES8 and EP9 models on the booth, with few staff at the scene and not many consumers watching.
It is worth mentioning that Tesla's domestic version of Model 3 standard continued version was also unveiled at the Guangzhou Auto Show, the appearance of the car is basically the same as the imported version of Model 3, and the Chinese "Tesla" logo is added to the rear.
With the promotion of Tesla's domestic production and the decline of subsidies for new energy vehicles, the survival pressure of the new forces of domestic car-building is increasing, and the time left for the new forces of car-building is running out.
As we all know, sales of new energy vehicles have declined for four consecutive months since the subsidy slumped in June this year. According to data released by the China Automobile Association, the production and sales of new energy vehicles in October were 95000 and 75000 respectively, down 35.4% and 45.6% from a year earlier.
Some people in the industry said that affected by the environment of the car market and the decline of new energy subsidies, the new power of car building will usher in the "year of life and death". For the current new forces of car building, the biggest problem is still the problem of capital, financing is becoming more and more difficult, and the living environment is becoming more and more difficult.
At present, the new forces of car building are facing survival challenges, but the decline of new energy subsidies has just begun. After the subsidies are completely abolished in 2020, the survival crisis of the new forces of car building really begins.
