For the sake of shame, on the first day of the Guangzhou auto show, Dongfeng Peugeot brought a new generation of Peugeot 2008, the new car positioning small SUV, based on PSA Group's latest CMP platform.

Compared with the previous generation, the new Peugeot 2008 has improved in design, technology and space.

The new Peugeot 2008 abandons the round design style, and the front face design of the new car becomes sharp. Compared with the previous generation model, the new Peugeot 2008 increases in all aspects of body size, length, width and height specification for 4312/1785/1545mm, wheelbase for 2612mm.

The interior of the new car follows the family design language, using an immersive cockpit called "3D i-Cockpit", with a double-spoke steering wheel, a 10-inch central LCD screen and instruments with three-dimensional projection display to add to the car's sense of technology.

The power side is slightly weak, still using PSA's 1.2T three-cylinder turbocharged engine and 1.6T four-cylinder self-priming engine. The maximum power of 1.2T is 136hp, the peak torque of 230Nm is 1.6L, the maximum power of 1.6L is 117hp, and the peak torque of 150N.m matches the 6AT gearbox.

In addition, Dongfeng Peugeot also unveiled its first all-electric model, eMur2008, whose appearance and interior are basically the same as those of the fuel version of Peugeot 2008. In terms of power, the new car is equipped with a maximum power 120kW motor with a peak torque of 260N ·m and a NEDC mileage of 430km.

The main reason for the decline in sales of the Peugeot 2008 is the decline in its own production power and the suppression of its own brands. Now the new generation of Peugeot 2008 has been officially unveiled, and the new car is significantly higher than the previous generation, but whether it can be recognized by consumers is still unknown.

In fact, as the brand representative of French cars in China, Dongfeng Peugeot's performance in recent years is far from satisfactory. According to sales data, Dongfeng Peugeot sold more than 400000 vehicles in 2015, a highlight period for Dongfeng Peugeot sales. Dongfeng Peugeot sales fell to 349200 in 2016, 249000 in 2017, 140000 in 2018, and then in the first half of this year. Dongfeng Peugeot's cumulative sales were 33000, down 63.7% from a year earlier.

In order to recover sales in China, DPCA officially announced its "Yuan" recovery plan on September 4. Through the efforts of Peiyuan, Guyuan and Tuoyuan, the overall sales reached 400000 vehicles.

In order to promote the circuit of Dongfeng Peugeot and Dongfeng Citroen brands, in early October, DPCA officially opened its first dual-brand 4S store in Jiaozuo, Henan Province, which can sell both Dongfeng Peugeot and Dongfeng Citroen models.

In terms of personnel, DPCA has made frequent adjustments to senior officials in the past two years, and the management of Dongfeng Peugeot has basically achieved localization.

On Peugeot's market performance in China, Mr Ambato said China was facing a series of challenges, including pressure from brand awareness. At the same time, it said that the Chinese market is still a "very important market" for Peugeot, and the Chinese auto market is facing great changes. In order to cope with this change, it will be carried out in this process. The domestic market mainly promotes cars and new energy vehicles.
