AutoBeta(AutoBeta.net)11/26 Report--

As we all know, Volkswagen Group owns a total of 12 brands, including Porsche, Volkswagen, Lamborghini, Skoda, Bentley, Bugatti, Audi, Scania, MAN, Seattle, Ducati and Volkswagen commercial vehicles. Among them, Bugatti, Bentley and Lamborghini are all familiar luxury brands.

However, among these brands, Bentley's development can be said to be the worst, in the past year, Bentley's profit is hardly optimistic. In particular, the loss directly reached 2.2 billion yuan in 2018.

According to the American Automotive Magazine, a 2030 plan is being planned within Volkswagen Group, which makes it clear that the future Volkswagen Group will attach importance to electric cars and self-driving. In the future, only Volkswagen (including Skoda, Seattle), Audi and Porsche brands will exist for a long time, and other brands may be sold or cut off.

Bentley, founded in 1919, was first acquired by Rolls-Royce, but due to the poor management of Rolls-Royce, Bentley was finally acquired by Volkswagen Group. However, at present, the development of Bentley under Volkswagen Group is not optimistic, and Volkswagen, which is committed to electrification and eliminating the "emission gate" scandal, is not immune from it.

At the previous Volkswagen internal meeting, Herbert Dis also said: "We do not need more brands, we can use existing brands to make huge profits around the world."

In view of the current operation of the Bentley brand, there are media reports that Volkswagen may sell the Bentley brand, and the buyer is likely to be Geely.

As we all know, Geely acquired Volvo in 2010 for $1.8 billion, making it one of the top 500 companies in the world. In June 2017, Geely signed a final agreement with Malaysia's DRB-HICOM Group to acquire a 51 per cent stake in DRB-HICOM 's Lutes, and in 2018, Geely spent $9 billion to become Daimler's largest shareholder.

So for the deep-pocketed Geely, it is not surprising that it has been exposed that it is possible to acquire Bentley after many acquisitions of car brands.

It is worth noting that Volvo sales continued to decline in 2007 and did not improve until after Geely's acquisition in 2010.

In 2011, Volvo sold 449000 cars worldwide, up 20.3% from a year earlier. Volvo sales have risen for months, rising 13.9 per cent year-on-year to 60959 vehicles in October. Sales in the first ten months of this year totaled 568663, up 8.1 per cent from a year earlier. At this rate, Volvo's annual sales will hit a record high again this year.

However, there is a clear difference between the acquisition of Bentley and the acquisition of Volvo. After all, Bentley is only a Volkswagen brand, and it is a luxury brand, and the acquisition of Volvo is the whole group. Once Geely buys Bentley, Geely will also face many challenges. For example, it is different from existing models in terms of craftsmanship, technology and configuration.

Geely's acquisition of Bentley is only a conjecture in the industry, and Geely has yet to respond to it, but it is worth affirming that the current operating condition of Bentley is indeed worrying. Volkswagen Group, which is committed to electrification and self-driving technology, has no intention to buy Bentley, even if Geely succeeds in acquiring Bentley, it is a mystery whether Bentley can be reversed.
