According to foreign media reports, Porsche is about to decide to launch a new pure electric car, eventually replacing the 718 model. Porsche CEO Oliver Bloom said in an interview, "in all the market segments-cars, SUV and two-door sports cars-we are considering the production of fuel vehicles, hybrids and electric vehicles." In addition, there are reports that Porsche Boxster and Cayman also seem to be offering electrification.

Porsche chairman Oliver Blume revealed in an interview that the company is already testing an all-electric 718 prototype and is also developing a hybrid 718. Porsche is considering a hybrid version of its current Boxster and cayman models, but has not yet decided whether to use a plug-in hybrid or a gas-electric hybrid, but plans to sell the Boxster and Cayman in both hybrid and all-electric forms.

At the same time, it is also pointed out that Porsche will also launch the so-called 718 pure electric model, namely 718s, in 2023, but the news has not been officially confirmed by Porsche. Combined with Porsche's previously released brand strategy, the news is not groundless.

As early as March this year, Porsche announced that its electric models, including plug-in hybrids and pure electric models, would account for 33% of the models sold by 2020, 50% by 2025 and nearly 100% by 2030. Therefore, it is not surprising to adopt the two-line strategy of hybrid + pure electricity at this node in 2023.

At the same time, Porsche first launched an electrified model on the 718, which can also be used to test market reaction. Although the Taycan has always been said to be the product of the sword pointing at Tesla, considering the price gap, it seems that entry-level models like the 718 can more directly target Tesla's market segment. At that time, the test will be not only the entanglement of choosing a sports car or a four-seater, but also a contest between traditional brands and new brands about electrification.

It can be said that the transformation of ultra-luxury brands such as Porsche electrification has become a foregone conclusion, including Ferrari's latest leading model SF90 has been replaced with hybrid system, electrification has become an irresistible trend. In the foreseeable future, even if limited by technical reasons, many luxury brands will not necessarily popularize pure electric models, but electrification and hybrid systems are indeed the current mainstream.

From the day the three supercars adopted hybrid systems, it was only a matter of time before they devolved this technology to their own entry-level models. Unexpectedly, the day came so quickly. Perhaps after 2023, the next generation of Cayenne, Macan and other models will also turn to electrification plans.
