Van Ande led Volkswagen to overcome the market bottleneck and get out of the predicament. Before becoming a member of Volvo's board of directors, Van Ande was appointed by Zhejiang Geely Holdings Group and became an independent director of Malaysia's Proton Holdings. It is understood that Zhejiang Geely holding Group has a controlling stake in Proton, a Proton car under its control, and a controlling stake in the British sports car Lotus.
