A few days ago, the declaration map of a brand new Dongfeng Citroen car was obtained from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. The new car is named C3L. As the model is built by the SUV model C3-XR, it should be a cross-border model with a unique shape, located between Elysee and C4L, and will be officially listed in 2020.

From the declaration map, the appearance of the new car uses the Dongfeng Citroen family style design, the front shape is highly consistent with the current C3-XR, the headlamps are placed on the extension line of the Citroen herringbone LOGO to form a V-shaped design, and the through-type chrome plating net connects the headlights on both sides, which is full of the unique design sense of the legal system.

The new car has a three-compartment body on the side, and the ground clearance is close to that of the SUV model as a whole, which is more similar to Elysee, but the shape of the rear window is more square and decorated with black corners. The length, width and height of the new car are 4495/1748/1513mm, and the wheelbase is 2655mm, exceeding C4L. The tail is more similar to the C3-XR, the visual effect of the four-cavity LED taillight is outstanding, and the bottom exhaust is unilateral and double.

The Dongfeng Citroen C3L will be equipped with a 1.2T three-cylinder engine codenamed HN11, with a maximum power of 116hp and a peak torque of 190Nm, the same as the current C3-XR.

Although Dongfeng Citroen C3L is a compact car with higher ground clearance, it is suitable for consumers who are too attached to cars but do not like SUV. The new car further complements Citroen's product line after its launch. With the emergence of more and more crossover models, perhaps Citroen should learn to follow the mainstream.

Over time, French models now account for a smaller and lower share of sales in China, accounting for only 0.6 per cent of the market in the previous November. From January to October this year, the cumulative sales of DPCA were only 109900, down 54.0 per cent from the same period last year. Among them, Dongfeng Citroen sold 3566 units in October and 44266 units from January to October 2019.
