BMW, which was recalled not long ago because of engine problems, conducted another vehicle recall only more than a month ago, and this time it is because of the oil spill, which is known to those familiar with BMW as a term that BMW is "famous" in the world. But the BMW recall was due to a leak in the fuel tank, involving more than 310000 3-series models.

Today, brilliance BMW Co., Ltd. filed a recall plan with the State Administration of Market Supervision and Administration in accordance with the regulations on the Administration of defective Automobile products recall and the measures for the implementation of defective Automobile products recall regulations, and decided to recall a total of 312281 brilliance BMW 316i, 316Li, 318i, 318Li, 320i, 320Li, 328i, 328Li, 330i, 330Li and 335Li vehicles produced during the period from April 22, 2011 to July 31, 2016.

For the vehicles within the scope of this recall, due to the fluctuation of the fuel tank manufacturing process and the lack of design fault tolerance, the processing cover plate on the upper part of the fuel tank may crack after being used for a period of time, resulting in fuel leakage when the vehicle is filled with fuel. There is a safety risk.

In fact, this is not the first time this situation has happened. in early 2018, brilliance BMW, with the intervention of the former AQSIQ, already issued an announcement, starting from April 2, 2018, recall some BMW 3-series vehicles produced between September 1 and October 31, 2015, a total of 16504 vehicles.

The solution is the same as this time, this time brilliance BMW Co., Ltd. will use a special tool (leak detector) to test the fuel tank pressure loss of the vehicles within the recall scope (1) according to the extent to which the fuel tank is affected by process fluctuations during the manufacture of the fuel tank, and replace the fuel tank of the failed vehicle free of charge for the vehicles within the recall scope (2) to eliminate safety risks.

Emergency measures: users are advised to fill the fuel before the recall and maintenance do not exceed the fuel meter 3max 4 (about 45 liters), so as not to increase the fuel tank load to cause damage. If users smell fuel inside the car or observe fuel leakage outside the vehicle, they should contact the authorized dealer of BMW for maintenance as soon as possible.

Through comparison, it can be found that this recall has one more step with the last time, that is, the vehicles within the recall scope (1) are tested first, and then replaced, and the fuel tanks are directly replaced for the vehicles within the recall scope (2). The last recall was a direct replacement.

Obviously, this recall is due to the first recall, which cannot completely solve all the vehicles with oil spills, because after the first recall, many BMW owners still said that they were also leaking oil, but it was not within the scope of the last recall and aroused public discussion.

Vehicles manufactured since June 2016 still have hidden dangers and are not within the scope of the recall, and there are also a lot of models on the relevant complaint platforms.

A 3-series car owner told the platform about his vehicle oil spill, which sounds really scary. This is a 2016 BMW 320Li owner who had a fuel leak during a refueling, but his vehicle was not within the scope of BMW's previous recall, but the local 4S store gave free fuel tank replacement measures during the warranty period.

Although he enjoyed the free service, the car owner was still angry and complained to the platform. At that time, while refueling, the fuel tank was leaking at the same time. After seeing this scene, the gas station staff took out fire extinguishers and sand and spread them in the location of the oil leak. After doing a simple treatment, they contacted the 4s store to drag them back.

There is also a BMW owner in Shanghai who found an oil leak in the fuel tank while refueling at a gas station and urgently contacted the trailer and refused to transport the leaking car because of safety problems. So the owner called the 4S store again, and the 4S store said that it needed to contact the technician to empty the gasoline in the tank so that the trailer could be pulled. However, the car owner waited for 5 hours and did not see the so-called technician come over. In an urgent situation, the car owner had to win in danger and forcibly drove the oil-leaking car to the 4S store.

The car owner said afterwards that he had seen the news that BMW had recalled some of its vehicles due to the oil spill, but his car was not within the scope of the recall, so he didn't take the matter to heart. He just didn't expect it, and finally got hit.

See this recall, more is BMW after receiving many complaints and then made a choice of recall, after all, fuel tank leakage is not a trivial matter, in case something really happens, the consequences will be unimaginable.

Near the end of the year, BMW suffered another recall, which is the 12th series of recalls this year, equivalent to an average of once a month, according to data.
