The selection of Ward's Top Ten engines and Power Systems in 2020 has been finished. according to the award list, it includes 5 gasoline engines, 2 gasoline engines with 48V light mixing system, 1 diesel engine and 1 gasoline strong hybrid system. and a pure electric drive system.

BMW, Daimler, FCA and GM, which are good at high-displacement engines, are on the list, but they are not very close to the domestic market. The award-winning engines and power systems that are more common in the domestic market include Honda 2.0L Atkinson cycle naturally aspirated in-line four-cylinder engine + i-MMD hybrid system (Accord and CR-V hybrid), modern 1.6L turbocharged inline four-cylinder gasoline engine (Sonata, Encino Anchino), Nissan 2.0L variable compression ratio inline four-cylinder gasoline engine (Teana) Modern 150kW pure electric system (Oncino pure electric).

According to Ward magazine, the number of car / powertrain candidates for the 2020 award is 26, although it is less than last year's 39. Through daily commuter driving tests conducted in downtown Detroit from October to November 2019, Ward's review editors finally selected "Top Ten" from 26 candidate models as the winner of the 2020 Grand Prize. it also includes some models / models that have won the title of "Top Ten" in previous years. Drew Winter, senior content director at Ward, said: "not only is the automotive industry continuing to develop innovative internal combustion engines, but at the same time, their investment in hybrid vehicles, pure electric vehicles, 48V mild hybrid vehicles and hydrogen fuel cell vehicles continues to increase."

In the Ward selection, the basic price of the selected model cannot exceed $65000 (about 455400 yuan). The scoring items include the power of each powertrain, torque, comparable indicators, NVH suppression level, fuel economy, and the application of new technologies. The winners will be honored at the Ward Top Ten engines and Power Systems Summit in Detroit on January 16, 2020.
