AutoBeta(AutoBeta.net)12/23 Report--

The official website of C-ISAI China Insurance Automobile Safety Index today showed the latest crash test results of SAIC-Volkswagen Passat, which disappointed many consumers, especially in the frontal 25% offset collision and side collision projects, almost at the bottom of the same level.

From the results, SAIC-Volkswagen Passat got A (good) in crashworthiness and maintenance economy index, M (general) in occupant safety index, G (excellent) in pedestrian safety index and vehicle auxiliary safety index.

Among the most important in-car occupant safety index subdivision items, the front 25% offset collision rating is P (poor), due to the serious deformation of the cabin A-column broken and the lack of side head protection airbags.

Perhaps because of the thick appearance and the so-called rigorous German manufacturing process, Volkswagen has a high safety evaluation in the impression of consumers, and even some consumers end up choosing Volkswagen because of safety factors. but the actual results are completely different, which is really hard for many consumers to imagine. PICC Research has so far tested three Volkswagen brand cars, Tuguan L, Maiteng and Passat, all of which show poor safety at the same level.

SAIC-Volkswagen Passat's front 25% offset collision test was completed two months ago, when the manufacturer's technicians tracked and watched the crash test on the spot. According to the picture, many netizens did not expect much from its performance. The results show that this is indeed the case.

In Passat's 25% offset crash test on the front of the 64km/h, the front part of the car collapsed seriously, the A-pillar was broken, and the main driving frame was obviously deformed, and the airbag did not play a good protective role. The results show that several items are rated P (poor).

As the manufacturer is not equipped with side head protection airbags on the minimum model tested, it will be subject to impact for drivers and occupants. "it has minimal front airbag effect, excessive lateral displacement of the steering wheel, and the dummy's head touches the hard structure twice," C-ISAI said. "

In the side collision of 50km/h, due to the lack of side head airbag protection, the driver and occupant's head and neck were hit and lost points.

C-IASI also tested another SAIC Volkswagen model, the Tuguan L, in a 25% frontal bias crash test, in which the front collapsed so badly that the crew cabin was invaded and the dummy's legs were damaged, resulting in a P (poor) rating.

The situation of FAW-Volkswagen Maiteng and Passat is also very similar, the crew cabin is invaded by the collision, the A column is deformed in many places, and the positive 25% offset collision rating is M (general).

After the real collision of Tuguan L, Mai Teng and Passat, can the Chinese still trust the safety of Volkswagen? Perhaps the mythical image of Volkswagen, which has always been solid and heavy in the impression of consumers, is going to be shattered!

Looking at a number of B-class cars evaluated by C-IASI so far, only from the front 25% bias collision, the performance of SAIC-Volkswagen Passat is almost at the bottom. Teana, Camry, Asian Dragon, Mercedes-Benz C-Class and BMW all received excellent ratings. Accord, INSPIRE, Sima, Maiteng and Passat all lost points to varying degrees, but only Passat got the lowest rating of P (worse).

As the main B-class car put by Volkswagen in the Chinese market for many years, Passat not only has a good reputation, but also often leads the sales in the same class. Sales figures show that Passat sold 167500 vehicles from January to November 2019, up slightly from a year earlier to 179000 for the whole of 2018.

It is hard to believe that such a collision result is given to consumers under high sales. Some netizens countered, "this is a car with moral flavor, the door closes loudly, and it doesn't matter what is safe."whether a car is safe or not mainly depends on whether the door closes loudly or not." Some netizens also said, "this Jerry-building is a bit too much" and "the image of the magic car has collapsed".

Finally, the evaluation results of 40 models of Baoyan C-IASI in attached Middle School are as follows:
