GAC GROUP and SAIC have announced that the two sides have formally signed a strategic cooperation framework agreement in Shanghai, and the two sides will cooperate in technology research and development, resource coordination, investment layout, market expansion, business model innovation, international operation and other related fields.

According to reports, in the research and development of core technologies, the two sides will jointly invest and develop strategic core technologies and platforms in the fields of new energy, intelligence, networking, and lightweight. In sharing industrial chain resources, the two sides will cooperate not only in the field of production and manufacturing, but also in insurance, auto finance, logistics, post-market, industrial investment and so on. In the new business model, the two sides will strengthen research and cooperation in car sharing, travel services, separation of vehicles and electricity, and so on. In overseas markets, the two sides will explore cooperation in overseas terminal network resources, overseas business partners, overseas manufacturing resources, international logistics and so on.

China's automobile industry has entered a cold winter, the phenomenon of car companies huddling together to keep warm will become very common. Earlier, FAW Group, Dongfeng Automobile and Changan Automobile signed a strategic cooperation framework agreement, and the three parties announced formal cooperation in the four major areas of forward-looking common technological innovation, automobile full value chain operation, international operation and new business model.

According to the sales report, GAC GROUP sold a total of 194968 passenger cars in November 2019, down 4.22% from a year earlier. From January to November, GAC GROUP sold a total of 1873315 passenger cars, down 4.06 per cent from the same period last year. Among them, GAC Honda sold 707789 vehicles, up 5.25% from the same period last year, while GAC Toyota sold 624224 vehicles, up 16.03% from the same period last year.

SAIC sold 581900 vehicles in November 2019, with a cumulative sales of 5.54 million in the first 11 months, down 13.33 per cent from a year earlier. From January to November, SAIC Volkswagen sold 1.7677 million vehicles, down 6.72% from the same period last year; SAIC GM sold 1.4756 million vehicles, down 17.94% from the same period last year; SAIC GM Wuling sold 1.4372 million vehicles, down 21.75% from the same period last year; SAIC passenger car branch sold 595800 vehicles, down 5.74% from the same period last year.
