According to media sources, both shareholders of GAC and Toyota will spend 15 billion yuan on capacity expansion, and the annual production capacity will increase from the current 600000 to 1 million in the future. among them, the annual production capacity of 200000 vehicles in the first phase of the project (the fourth production line) will be used for the production of new energy vehicles, and three electric models are planned.

According to the document, the fourth production line is scheduled to be completed in September 2020 and put into production in March 2021, with three pure electric models planned in advance, namely the C-HR EV, the pure electric large-scale SUV and the pure electric MPV.

In addition, the fourth production line covers an area of 457042 square meters, with 3500 new employees and a total investment of 4.988 billion yuan.

Guangzhou Auto Toyota Motor Co., Ltd. already has three traditional fuel vehicle production lines in Nansha District, Guangzhou, of which the first and second production lines can reach 400000 vehicles per year, and the third production line has been put into production at the beginning of 2018. The annual production capacity can reach 200000 vehicles, and the total production capacity of the three production lines is 600000 vehicles per year.

Of the three pure electric models planned by Guangzhou Auto Toyota in the fourth production line, the C-HR EV has been unveiled at the 2019 Shanghai Auto Show, and the details of the model have been declared on the website of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. The new car is equipped with a motor with a maximum power of 204hp, matching ternary lithium battery, battery capacity and NEDC battery life have not been announced.

Relevant documents show that Guangzhou Auto Toyota pure electric MPV vehicle length exceeds 4800mm, wheelbase reaches 2850mm SUV length even reaches 5172mm, wheelbase to 3060mm, belongs to large SUV level. It is quite possible that these models are exclusive to China.

Sales figures show that GAC Toyota sold 68000 new cars in November, up 12 per cent from a year earlier, and accumulated sales of 624224 vehicles in the first 11 months of 2019, up 16 per cent from a year earlier. From the perspective of the new exclusive production line of electric vehicles and the planned three pure electric vehicles, GAC Toyota will also strengthen its efforts in the field of pure electric vehicles in the future.

Toyota recently announced that it will introduce 10 electric models to China by 2025.

In addition, in November this year, Toyota signed a joint venture agreement with BYD on the establishment of a pure electric vehicle research and development company, which will be formally established in 2020. The two sides jointly carry out pure electric vehicles and vehicle platform, parts design and research and development and other related business.
