AutoBeta(AutoBeta.net)01/05 Report--
According to the latest data from foreign media statistics, the ranking of luxury brand sales in the US market in 2019 was officially released, with BMW surpassing Mercedes-Benz to win the US luxury car championship for the first time since 2015.
Sales of the BMW brand rose 4% in the last month of 2019, helping to achieve full-year growth. From January to December 2019, BMW sold 324826 vehicles in the United States, an increase of 4.4 percent over the same period last year, ranking first among luxury brands in the United States.
The BMW brand has seen sales growth in most SUV models, but has seen a sharp decline in the car business. The BMW X3 and X5 became the main sales force of the brand, while the new model X7 contributed 21574 vehicles for the whole year.
Bernhard Bernhard Kuhnt, BMW's North American chief executive, said in a statement: "over the past two years, we have talked many times about how to build the right product portfolio for the market, and we believe that with all our recent launches, we can do that." He added, "BMW currently has the youngest and most exciting product portfolio."
Mercedes-Benz delivered a total of 316094 new cars in 2019, roughly the same as in 2018, and the gap with BMW is only 8732. "strong demand, coupled with increased supply of many of our latest Mercedes-Benz models, including the A-Class, GLB, GLS and GLE, contributed to our success in 2019," Nicholas Speek, chief executive of Mercedes-Benz USA, said in a statement.
Lexus ranked third, delivering 298114 vehicles for the year, down 0.1% from a year earlier, and its biggest model for the year was the RX.
Audi sold 224111 vehicles in the United States in 2019, up 0.4% from a year earlier, with Audi Q5 as its biggest seller.
The sales of the top four brands did not change much, but BMW won the championship with its strong growth in the SUV model.
