Honda China today released its 2019 car sales, with annual terminal car sales of 1554433, an increase of 122142 over the same period last year and an 8.5 per cent year-on-year increase, setting a record for Honda's annual sales in China.

According to the two joint ventures, GAC Honda sold 765517 vehicles in 2019, up 4.1 per cent from a year earlier, while Dongfeng Honda sold 788916 vehicles, up 13.2 per cent from a year earlier. Honda China says it sells more than 100000 Civic, CR-V, XR-V, Accord, Lingpai, colorful and Feido seven models a year.

However, Honda China fell by more than 1x4 in the last month of 2019. Honda's terminal car sales in China fell 25.6 per cent year-on-year to 142831 in December 2019. Among them, GAC Honda's terminal sales were 67305 vehicles in December, down 20.4% from the same period last year, and there was also a decline in November. The momentum at the end of the year was not satisfactory, and the newly listed Haoying had no obvious effect on boosting sales.

In 2019, Dongfeng Honda launched Ling Pai's brother model, the Happy Domain, which is all equipped with a 1.0T three-cylinder engine with a price range of 9.98 yuan to 136800 yuan. It also launched a new XR-V, a new Civic and a hybrid model of the Ericsson sharp. For its part, Guangzhou Auto Honda has launched the Odyssey sharp hybrid model, the new colorful wisdom, the pure electric car X-NV, and the compact SUV Haoying.

GAC Honda Haoying officially went public at the end of November, with a price range of 16.98-252800 yuan, which provides 1.5T fuel version and 2.0L sharp hybrid power, filling the gap of GAC Honda in the compact SUV market. At the initial stage of listing, dealers were exposed to adopt the plan of price increase, and according to the feedback of dealers, the production capacity of manufacturers is limited at present. At the same time, Honda Haoying has been on the market for a month, with an order volume of 20,000.

After the incident of brake door and throttle in 2018, Honda is also not calm in 2019. Dongfeng Honda XR-V was recalled in February because of insufficient torque in the fastening bolts of the right rear hub bearing unit and the risk of rear wheel falling off; nearly 100000 Honda cars equipped with Takata airbags were recalled in July, involving eight models.

Honda announced a recall in August after a "stall gate" broke out at the end of July, including 220000 Guangzhou Automobile Honda Accord and 30, 000 Dongfeng Honda INSPIRE cars.

According to the official notice, due to the air velocity design at the exit of the engine intercooler, the vehicle within the scope of this recall may cause a small amount of condensed water to gather at the outlet of the intercooler when driving in a high temperature and humidity environment such as heavy rain. in this case, during rapid acceleration, condensate droplets are sucked into the combustion chamber, resulting in engine misfire, which in extreme cases may make the engine enter protection mode. As a result, the acceleration of the vehicle is limited while driving, and there are hidden dangers in safety. Honda will install devices to optimize the air flow rate at the outlet of the intercooler for vehicles within the recall area free of charge to eliminate safety risks.

However, a series of defects and errors did not affect Honda's sales in the Chinese market, including Civic, CR-V, Accord and so on, with monthly sales reaching 20, 000 units.

Honda will continue to make efforts in 2020, with Dongfeng Honda planning to launch at least five new cars (including existing model modifications), including the Civic hatchback version, the shared 1.5L hybrid version and the new sister version of the Feido.

Honda China broke through the 1.5 million-vehicle mark in 2019 and achieved sales growth in the cold winter of the car market, which has been the envy of many competing brands. In 2020, Honda plans to focus on gasoline, hybrid and pure electric technologies.
