2019 has passed, and excellent car companies can't wait to announce their results in 2019, and Geely is one of them.
On January 6, Geely officially announced its sales in 2019. Figures show that Geely's sales in December 2019 were 130036, up 39.3% from the same period last year; the cumulative sales in 2019 was 1361560, meeting the annual sales target of 1.36 million set in 2019, but down 9.3% from last year. As a result of the successful completion of the 2019 sales target, Geely has set a sales target of 1.41 million vehicles in 2020, an increase of 3.6 per cent year-on-year.
In 2019, Geely released the Geometry brand, positioning the high-end pure electric brand. Geely formed the development pattern of Geely, Lecker and Geometry, covering car, SUV, MPV and pure electric market segments, and launched Geometry A, Carnegie, Xingyue, Boyue PRO and other models.
In terms of SUV models, the Geely SUV camp sold 709800 vehicles in 2019, accounting for 52.1% of Geely's total sales. Among them, the Boyue family sold 228564 vehicles in 2019, while Dihao GS and Qianyue were the second echelon of Geely in 2019, with sales of 112777 and 137528 respectively, with monthly sales of more than 10,000. Xingyue sold 3845 in December and 27707 in seven months on the market, while Vision SUV sold 81934 vehicles in the whole year, down 27.7 percent from the same period last year.
In terms of car models, Dihao GL sold 79390 cars in the whole year, including 6303 in December; New Dihao sold 205143 cars in the whole year, ranking first in Chinese brand car sales for eight years in a row; and the new colorful Rui sold 83548 cars in 2019, an increase of 152.5 percent over the same period last year. Vision sedan sales for the whole year totaled 79994, down 44.4 per cent from a year earlier.
In terms of MPV models, Geely's first MPV Jiaji sold 3093 vehicles in December, with a cumulative sales of 32961 vehicles in the 10 months on the market.
The Lectra brand has also performed well in the market, with cumulative sales of 128066 vehicles in 2019, up 6.4 per cent from a year earlier.
Sales of Geely's new energy and electrified models rose sharply, with sales of 113067 vehicles in 2019, an increase of 66.5 per cent over the same period last year. Models such as Dihao EV, Dihao GL PHEV, Dihao PHEV and Dihao GSe account for 73% of Geely's total new energy sales, while Geely Geometry A sold 1070 vehicles in December.
At present, Geely has three major platform architectures: BMA, CMA, SPA and PMA pure electric architecture. In terms of products, Geely will launch six models, including Geely SUV-Geely icon, Geely's first medium-and large-scale multi-function SUV-VX11, Geometry's second car-GE13, and CMA architecture-Lac 05, in 2020, to optimize the brand camp structure.
From the perspective of the 2019 market, due to the grim car market and other reasons, the sales of many car companies, including Geely Motor, have been erratic, and the completion of the annual sales target is full of uncertainties. Fortunately, Geely relies on a number of best-selling models to achieve its annual sales target, which is not only an affirmation of Geely, but also an affirmation of the rise of its own brands.
2020 has come, and the cold winter of the car market still continues. Whether Geely can achieve better results in the new year remains to be seen.
