According to data, Takata airbag manufacturer Takata Corporation of Japan was founded in 1933. It is mainly engaged in the research and development of automotive safety systems and devices, including automotive airbags, steering wheels, seat belts and airbag gas generators, and child safety seats. Japan is the second largest manufacturer of automotive safety components in the world.

Takata created the largest safety recall in automobile history because of the airbag problem, which directly led to the bankruptcy of Takata. In June 2017, Takata finally filed for bankruptcy because of product safety issues, and the US-based Bailey Security Systems Company, a subsidiary of Chinese parts supplier Ningbo Yingsheng, acquired Takata.
