FAW-Volkswagen Audi recently held the off-line ceremony of the domestic Audi Q3 Sportback in the final assembly workshop of the North China base in Tianjin, officially announcing that the car has entered the stage of production. The new car, the compact sedan SUV, is powered by a 2.0T turbocharged engine and is scheduled to go on sale in April.

The domestic Audi Q3 Sportback is based on the MQB platform and is regarded as a derivative version of the Q3 model. The new car continues the design idea of Audi Q3 as a whole, and the design layout of the front face is exactly the same as that of the new Q3, but the intake grille uses a honeycomb to show a sense of movement. The side of the body is the biggest highlight of the new car, and it is also the difference between the Q3 Sportback and the new Q3. The body trend of the Q3 is slippery, and the low and sloping rear roof and C-pillar bring a sedan style, but at the same time sacrifice the space in the trunk.

According to the declaration information, the length, width and height of the new car are 4518/1843/1573mm and the wheelbase is 2680mm.

In terms of power, the domestic Audi Q3 Sportback will be equipped with 1.4TFSI (150hp) and 2.0TFSI (180hp and 220hp), matching DQ381 and DQ500 seven-speed double clutch gearbox, and the high-end model will also provide four-wheel drive system.

In terms of price, please refer to the cash Q3 price range of RMB 26.00-359800. The starting price of Q3 Sportback is expected to be RMB 280000. According to Audi's new car launch plan, the car will go on sale in April.

Audi's 2019 sales figures in China showed annual sales of 690083 vehicles, up 4.1 per cent from a year earlier. The localization of Q3 Sportback further enriches Audi's domestic car product series, but its special market positioning and special shape features determine that it is not a continuous volume model and does not play a significant role in improving sales.
