AutoBeta(AutoBeta.net)01/22 Report--
The overall car market is declining in 2019, but it is completely different for luxury brands, and the market performance continues to grow. Dongfeng Infiniti, a second-tier luxury brand, recently released the latest sales information, with a total of 33417 domestic models sold for the whole year, an increase of 18.1% over the same period last year.
Although it is not easy to achieve growth, compared with other domestic luxury brands, Infiniti's performance has been tepid. Lexus, a Japanese and second-tier luxury brand, has exceeded 200000 vehicles in 2019, lagging only slightly behind Cadillac.
In fact, it is not surprising for Infiniti to lag behind in sales. Infiniti, which began to achieve domestic sales in 2014, has only two domestic models on sale so far, namely QX50 and Q50L, of which QX50 sold a total of 21580 vehicles for the whole year, an increase of 112.9% over the same period last year, while Q50L sold 11837 vehicles for the whole year. Although there seems to be a big increase in sales of some products, the main reason for the big increase is that the base is small.
Compared with other luxury brands on the layout of each market segment and product replacement, Infiniti does lag behind a lot. To this end, Infiniti said it would replan in 2020, hoping to deepen its localization strategy and electrification strategy in China.
However, as early as 2018, Infiniti launched the "5 IN 5" strategy, that is, to launch five new domestic models in the next five years, and hopes to achieve 150000 sales by 2022. Obviously, Infiniti's plan is still planned, and whether the plan can be completed within the planning time depends on whether Infiniti attaches importance to the domestic market.
In terms of new energy, Infiniti will introduce pure electric and e-POWER hybrid models from 2021. By 2025, 50% of Infiniti's global sales will come from electric cars. In addition, Dongfeng Motor announced in its medium-term business plan that 25% of Infiniti's sales in China in 2022 will come from electric vehicles and will be fully electrified by 2025.
In fact, it is not that Infiniti is not optimistic about domestic Infiniti, but Infiniti does not pay much attention to the domestic market, in the domestic market for many years, the model layout is still very slow. In addition, Nissan, the parent brand, has now suffered a decline in sales as a result of the Ghosn incident, and Infiniti has experienced all kinds of troubles. The sales target of 33600 vehicles in 2020 is only 183 more than this year.
