AutoBeta(AutoBeta.net)01/23 Report--

For auto companies, the auto show is undoubtedly a platform to show new products, new technologies and new directions, so as to attract more consumers' attention. But now the auto show seems to be no longer favored by car companies and would rather not participate in the show. A few days ago, PSA Group's Peugeot and Citroen plan not to participate in this year's Geneva Motor Show.

The Geneva Motor Show, founded in 1924, is the only major auto show held every year in Europe. Although the area is not large and only about 70,000 square meters, it is a must-compete place for world-famous automobile manufacturers. However, PSA still decided to cancel the "home door" auto show, including Peugeot, Citroen and Opel brands decided not to attend.

In fact, at the 17th Guangzhou Motor Show held in November last year, only the Peugeot brand attended and unveiled the new small SUV 2008 model and the pure electric e2008 model moving into the electric field, while Citroen did not appear. If because of the gradual decline in the performance of PSA in the domestic market, it decided to save costs as much as possible and cancel to attend the Guangzhou Auto Show. However, as the dominant position of the PSA Group in Europe, the PSA Group has also cancelled its participation.

According to foreign media speculation, the reason for the absence from the 2020 Geneva Motor Show is due to the current lack of novelty of Peugeot products. In addition, the cost of the auto show is very expensive, resulting in relatively low input and output.

In order to promote the transformation of the electrified era, Peugeot also revealed that it will officially unveil its new electric vehicle Logo at the Geneva Motor Show, indicating that Peugeot is further moving towards electric vehicles and plans to fully electrify its product line in 2023, but now it seems that the plan can only be "low-key implementation".

According to data previously released by PSA Group, PSA Group sold 3.5 million vehicles worldwide in 2019, down 9.4% from 3.878 million vehicles last year. The European region, which accounts for the largest share of the market, totaled 3.029 million vehicles, down 2.5% from the same period last year.

According to the latest performance report of the PSA Group, operating revenue reached 15.6 billion euros in the third quarter of this year, up 1% from the same period last year, while cumulative sales in the first three quarters were 2.2578 million vehicles, up 1.5% from the same period last year.

Obviously, the decline in performance for car companies should control the cost plan, choose a higher input-output publicity. With the rapid development of mobile network technology, new car plans and news released by new cars can be promoted rapidly, while the traditional way of car show promotion is gradually not chosen by automobile manufacturers.
