In response to the COVID-19 epidemic in Wuhan, the Consulate General of the French Government in Wuhan announced that it would provide bus services to French nationals in Wuhan to facilitate their evacuation from Wuhan. Then, in response to the official announcement of the PSA Group, the PSA Group decided to transfer 38 foreigners working in Wuhan and their families back to their home country, and said that it would take appropriate measures with its joint venture partner Dongfeng Company to take good care of DPCA employees.

The French government plans to arrange passenger buses to transport French citizens and their families who want to leave Wuhan to Changsha, Hunan Province, the South China Morning Post reported. French consulate staff revealed that French citizens arrived in Changsha, will be quarantined here for 14 days, followed by the next step of the evacuation plan.

PSA Group said in an announcement on January 26th that its evacuation plan will go to Changsha by bus, and foreigners will have to go through quarantine for some time before returning to their home country. PSA said that the group was discussing the matter with the Chinese government and the French Consulate General in Wuhan, and that transportation and accommodation were under preparation. The operation involved 38 foreigners working in Wuhan by the PSA Group and their families.

The headquarters of Shenlong Automobile is in Wuhan, Hubei Province. According to official sources, Shenlong Automobile Co., Ltd. was established in May 1992. it is a passenger car production and operation enterprise jointly established by Dongfeng Automobile Group Co., Ltd. and PSA Group of France, with a registered capital of 7 billion yuan. Dongfeng Company and PSA Group each account for 50% of the shares. At this stage, Shenlong Company is headquartered in Wuhan Economic and technological Development Zone. In Wuhan, there is a Wuhan factory (including three complete passenger car manufacturing units); in Chengdu, a Chengdu factory; and in Xiangyang, a Xiangyang factory.

Citroen has two joint venture brands: Dongfeng Peugeot and Dongfeng Citroen. At present, the main models of Dongfeng Citroen brand are Tianyi C5 AirCross, Yunyi C4 AirCross, New C3-XR, C6, C5, New C4L, C4 Sega, and New Elysee; Dongfeng Peugeot brand currently has 5008, 4008, 3008, 2008, new generation 508L, 408,308 products covering SUV and several car market segments. At the same time, under the guidance of the strategy of "Great Dongfeng, Great Independence and Great Cooperation", DPCA has actively carried out joint venture independent brand construction, and has launched three models of Dongfeng Fukang ES500, Dongfeng A9 and Dongfeng Fengshen L60. At this stage, the company has nearly 700 4S distribution outlets across the country.

DPCA's sales continued to decline, with sales of only 113579 vehicles in 2019, down 55 per cent from a year earlier. Since France's Massimo ROSERBA became the new general manager of DPCA in February last year, he and Li Jun, deputy general manager, have made major reforms to DPCA, "abandoning" the two factories, continuing layoffs, and adjusting the internal organizational structure.

A number of multinational car companies have set up companies in Wuhan, China, including Nissan, Renault, Honda and General Motors. Dongfeng Honda, Honda's joint venture in China, has three vehicle factories in Wuhan with a total capacity of 1.25 million vehicles and about 12500 employees, including Japanese and Chinese nationals. Honda said it banned employees from outside Wuhan from traveling to Wuhan in principle. A Honda spokesman said the company was already confirming the operation of the Wuhan plant and the current situation of its employees.

Other multinational car companies, including FCA, General Motors, Toyota and Ford, have made no urgent instructions to cancel or postpone their employees' travel to Wuhan.
