Xilai is the number one car company among the new car-building forces, with a cumulative delivery volume of 20565 vehicles in 2019, of which 9132 are ES8 and 11433 are ES6. Although the delivery volume has increased compared with the past year, the sales target of 40, 000 vehicles has only been achieved.

Tesla delivered the domestic version of Tesla Model3 for the first time in Shanghai on Jan. 7, while lowering the price to 323800 yuan. Taking into account new energy subsidies and exemption from purchase tax, the car can be picked up for as little as 300000 yuan.

After the price reduction information of the domestic version of Model 3 was announced, Tesla's stores were full, causing Tesla's market value to rise at one point, exceeding the market capitalization of General Motors and Ford combined.

In the face of Tesla's price reduction, Li Bin, CEO of Xilai Automobile, said, "We will not fall. We all have a negative gross profit and there is no room for price reduction, but we will do a good job in service and we are confident."

At present, the price of the ES6 is 338000 yuan, which is higher than that of domestic Tesla Model 3. In the face of the price reduction of Tesla, unless NIO can come up with more competitive models, it is difficult to achieve sales growth. It is understood that the third mass production model, the electric sedan SUV EC6, is expected to announce the price and configuration in July, and the new car can be delivered in September. The specific performance of the car is still unknown.

According to the China Automobile Association, sales of new energy vehicles in China were 1.206 million in 2019, down 4.0 per cent from the same period last year. Since the decline of subsidies for new energy vehicles in June 2019, new energy vehicles have declined for six months compared with the same period last year.
