GM officially announced that its Hummer Hummer brand will officially return and the Hummer will be used as a model under the GMC brand after the return. It is worth noting that the resurrected Hummer Hummer will launch an all-electric "super pickup" with strong horsepower, acceleration and torque, which will be officially released on May 20.

Stuart Fowler, public relations manager for GM's GMC brand, said GMC is the brand and the Hummer EV will be the name of the model under the brand. The all-electric GMC Hummer pickup is expected to go into production at a Detroit factory in the fall of 2021 and go on sale by the end of the year.

According to the trailer video released by GMC, you can see that the front face of the Hummer EV still uses a lot of Hummer elements, the front face is still wide, the flat middle net design adds a longitudinal decoration division, the forward air grille also uses the fully enclosed design commonly used by EV, and the lower right side of the middle net seems to have a GMC logo.

According to GMC, the new car will have the maximum power of the 1000HP (about 746kW) and a peak torque of 11500 lb-ft (15591N ·m) that can accelerate from zero to 60 mph in three seconds. However, details of the battery pack capacity, mileage and charging time of the new car have not yet been released.

It is understood that GM first released civilian Hummer military vehicles in 1992 and acquired Hummer in 1998. Hummer sales peaked in 2006, with sales in the United States reaching 71524. Hummer officially went bankrupt in 2009, but GM retained the Hummer brand, but Hummer stopped selling it on the market in 2010.

In fact, as early as June 2019, GM was reported to be pushing ahead with a large luxury electric car codenamed BR1, the first being a pick-up truck codenamed "Project O", which is either under the Hummer brand or sold with other GM models.

In the period of the gradual rise of new energy vehicles, the competition of electric pickups in the market is also increasing. At present, the largest seller in the North American market is Ford's Fmur150, and it has confirmed the development of the next-generation electric version, while Tesla's first electric pickup truck, Cybertruck, has also received a large number of orders after its launch. Hummer electric pickup truck will compete with Tesla Cybertruck after its launch.

The Hummer brand has really left the market for too long. The first model re-entered the market with electric pickup trucks. At present, it is estimated that only Tesla's Cybertruck is the real threat to the Hummer EV brand. Of course, there are all kinds of possibilities in the automobile market.
