AutoBeta(AutoBeta.net)02/01 Report--

In order to further reduce the production cost of domestic models, Tesla has revealed long ago that he will look for industrial chain partners in China, and the battery problem, the most important part of electric vehicles, is the top priority. A few days ago, Tesla announced the fourth quarter results at the same time, and revealed that the Ningde era will become its partner, meaning that the price of domestic Tesla may decline again.

Although there is no official announcement about this in the Ningde era, the cooperation between the two has been rumored for a long time. As early as March last year, it was reported that Tesla was discussing cooperation with Ningde Times, which was clarified by a notice issued by Ningde Times that he had not yet reached an intention to cooperate with Tesla and had not signed any business agreement. In late August of the same year, Tesla CEO Musk went to Shanghai for a 40-minute meeting with Ningde Times executives, after which the two companies reached a non-binding agreement. In November, it was revealed that Tesla has reached a preliminary agreement with Ningde Times, which will become Tesla's battery supplier in China this year.

Prior to this, Tesla denied all the above reports, and even a person in charge of Tesla said: "I haven't heard of it yet." Now he has finally admitted it publicly and said the details will be further revealed in Tesla's "Battery Day" in April.

The earliest battery manufacturer to cooperate with Tesla is Panasonic, which began to cooperate in 2009 and is also Tesla's "exclusive" battery supplier. However, in the following years, Tesla's sales continued to rise, and Panasonic also expanded its production capacity. But when it comes to battery costs, Panasonic seems reluctant to lower Tesla. According to the Wall Street Journal, a Panasonic insider said that Panasonic CEO Kazuhiro Tsuga often received phone calls or emails from Musk asking them to lower battery prices, but were refused.

In addition, Tesla chose to set up a factory in China for sales in order to increase profits, and will also consider local supply chain cooperation in order to further reduce costs, but for Tesla to start production in China, Panasonic said it had no plans to build a new battery plant for Tesla in China. Because Panasonic CEO Tsuga Ichiro once said that Panasonic underestimated the risk of cooperation with Tesla. Prior to this, Tesla's vehicle encountered frequent fires and put the blame on Panasonic, which obviously contradicted constantly.

As the "negotiations" between Tesla and Ningde gradually bear fruit, Tesla also said publicly that he would cooperate with him. The Ningde era, as the leader of China's battery market, means that after Tesla uses domestic batteries, the price of domestic Model 3 may be further explored.

In fact, the current Tesla Shanghai factory is nominally only an assembly plant. According to Tesla's Shanghai factory manufacturing director, "at present, the localization rate of parts in Tesla's Shanghai factory is about 30%. It is planned to increase to 70% and 80% by July 2020." With the improvement of the localization rate of domestic Model 3 parts, there will be further room for further exploration of its price.

At the same time, in addition to Tesla's announcement of cooperation with Ningde Times, the news that LG chemical NCM811 batteries will be supplied to Tesla's China super factory has also been confirmed.

According to public data, Ningde era has reached cooperation with many car companies. These include Chinese car companies such as SAIC, Dongfeng, Changan, BAIC, Geely and Guangzhou Automobile, as well as overseas car companies such as Mercedes-Benz, BMW, Volkswagen, Toyota and Volvo.
