In terms of market segments, sales in the United States, Toyota's largest single market, have declined, and it is also the only region in Toyota's larger market volume that has declined, which is related to the market downturn in the United States. Us light vehicle sales fell 1.6 per cent in 2019 from a year earlier to less than 17.1 million units, according to the data. However, Toyota's Camry and RAV4 both won the highest-selling compact SUV and midsize sedan market in the United States, with a total of 784000 vehicles sold in the United States for the whole year, while the Carola did not sell as many as the Honda Civic in the United States, but also sold 305000.

In the European market, Toyota's sales rose 4.6% year-on-year, higher than the overall market, with growth in all regions except Russia. Sales in Europe were boosted by Toyota's new RAV4, Corolla sports and travel versions in January 2019, the Corolla sedan and Lexus UX and new Lexus UX models in February 2019.

Toyota has become the largest market segment by sales in Asia because of its home market, Japan, and China, the second largest single market. Among them, the Japanese market accumulated sales of 1.6102 million vehicles, an increase of 2.9% over the same period last year, while Toyota became one of the few domestic brands that bucked the trend in 2019, surpassing Honda and Nissan to become the first Japanese brand in sales, with cumulative sales growth of 9%, surpassing the Japanese local market again.

In addition, even if Lexus suffered price increases in China, it still set sales records, surpassed Cadillac for several months in a row, and repeatedly won the monthly champion of second-tier luxury brand sales. the cumulative annual sales were only less than 10,000 Cadillac and ranked second.

Toyota's sales in Oceania, Latin America, Africa and the Middle East varied, with the biggest increase in the Middle East, where strong growth in Saudi Arabia achieved 10% year-on-year growth, but sales volume was small. The four regions accounted for only 13.6% of the total.
