According to the data, the peak of sales in 2019 was in June, but in the following months, sales were almost all lower than in 2018 until they grew again in December, although still lower than in 2018. but the month's sales are still the third highest in history. According to statistics, 279000 plug-in electric vehicles were sold worldwide in December, down 4 per cent from a year earlier.

The main reason for the decline for several consecutive months in this year is due to the withdrawal of China's electric car market. Since the subsidies for new energy vehicles declined in July this year, sales in the domestic new energy passenger car market declined for the first time, down 3% from the same period last year. 63% from the previous month, and the market performance continued to decline for the next four months. Sales from June to November were 66800, 71000, 65000, 65700 and 79000 respectively, almost halving from 72000, 84000, 97000, 120000 and 136, 000 in the same period in 2018.

Affected by the impulse at the end of the year, domestic new energy passenger vehicles reached a new high in December, with cumulative sales of 137000 units, down 5.1% from the same period last year and up 73.5% from November. It is obvious that the performance of China's new energy vehicle market has a great impact on the global market. Despite the decline in sales, the domestic car market is still the largest single market in the world.

According to the data, among the plug-in hybrid vehicles in 2019, pure electric vehicles accounted for 74%, and sales increased by 5% compared with the same period last year, while plug-in hybrid vehicles accounted for only 26% of the relatively small, and sales declined.

According to the auto company's sales ranking, the top three are Tesla, BYD and BAIC. BYD, which originally ranked first in global electric vehicle sales, has been successfully overtaken by Tesla, due to the decline of domestic new energy subsidies. BYD's sales have declined for several months in a row, while Tesla's sales have increased in all parts of the world, including a decline in subsidized prices in the Chinese market and continued expansion in sales.

Despite its poor performance in recent months, BYD's overall sales performance of 229506 vehicles is still higher than that of BAIC, SAIC and BMW, with all three manufacturers selling more than 100000 vehicles.

According to the ranking of specific electric vehicles, Tesla Model 3 sold 300885 vehicles in the whole year, which was also the highest selling electric vehicle in December, while BAIC EU series electric vehicles ranked second in sales, with 111047 units sold in the whole year. Nissan sold 69873 LEAF vehicles a year, successfully surpassing BYD yuan to take the third place. However, LEAF sales shrank by about 20 per cent in 2019.

In conclusion, the Chinese market has been affected by the decline of subsidies, which has affected the global electric car market, but sales have increased throughout the year.
