Earlier, FAW-Volkswagen announced that it would join hands with its three major brands, Volkswagen, Audi, and Jetta, to donate 6 million yuan to the areas affected by the epidemic, followed by an additional 34 million yuan, totaling 40 million yuan to help fight the pneumonia epidemic infected by novel coronavirus. FAW-Volkswagen said that the donated funds are mainly used for the purchase of medicine, medical equipment, kit, masks, goggles, protective clothing and other medical materials in Wuhan and other provinces and cities with severe epidemic situation, so as to alleviate the urgent need to combat the shortage of medical materials on the front line of the epidemic.

SAIC-Volkswagen, through Shanghai charities, donated 8 million yuan to the worst-hit areas across the country to support epidemic prevention and control efforts.

Volkswagen Group won the top spot in global sales in 2019 and topped the list for four consecutive years, mainly due to the strong performance of the Chinese market. According to official figures from Volkswagen Group, Volkswagen Group's global sales reached 10.9746 million vehicles in 2019, an increase of 1.3% year-on-year and a new high for the group.

In terms of major brands, only Skoda and Volkswagen commercial vehicle sales have declined under the Volkswagen Group. The Volkswagen brand sold 6.28 million vehicles, a slight increase of 0.5%. The Audi brand sold 1.8456 million vehicles, up 1.8 per cent from a year earlier. Porsche sold 280800 vehicles worldwide, up 9.6 per cent. Sales in Seattle rose 10.9 per cent to 574100. Skoda's sales fell 0.9% year-on-year to 1.243 million vehicles. MAN and Scania grew by 4.6 per cent and 3.1 per cent, respectively.

In the Chinese market, Volkswagen's overall sales reached 4.2336 million vehicles, a slight increase of 0.6% over the same period last year, accounting for 38.6% of Volkswagen's global sales, or nearly 40%.

It is worth noting that Volkswagen sold 3.1632 million vehicles in China in 2019, accounting for 50.38% of the brand's total global sales. Audi sold 690000 vehicles in China, accounting for 37.4% of Audi's total global sales.

According to the website of the National Health Commission, according to the epidemic situation of pneumonia infected by novel coronavirus, as of 24:00 on February 2, the State Health Commission received a total of 17205 confirmed cases (3 from Beijing and 1 from Jiangxi Province) from 31 provinces (autonomous regions and municipalities directly under the Central Government) and Xinjiang production and Construction Corps. There are 2296 critical cases, a total of 361 deaths, and a total of 475 cured and discharged cases. There were 21558 suspected cases.
