Brilliance BMW is the first auto company to announce that it will postpone work until February 17, and it has stopped production for the longest time affected by the epidemic. The company had previously said that the shutdown of the brilliance BMW plant in Shenyang, which employs about 18000 people, was accompanied by certain costs and significant economic losses for the factory.

Automobile enterprises have entered the shutdown period, which is mainly affected by the pneumonia epidemic infected by novel coronavirus, the guidelines of local governments, and the production of parts suppliers. Brilliance BMW is headquartered in Shenyang. In principle, the government-directed resumption time is February 10. The company has chosen to postpone work again, or it will involve the safety and health of employees and their families because of the spread of the epidemic. However, the key impact of the supply chain should not be ignored. The resumption time of auto parts suppliers and the timely supply of production facilities will determine the resumption time of the main engine factory.

Under the epidemic, several vehicle factories or parts suppliers have confirmed the existence of cases.

Weibaster, also a German company, is a global supplier of automotive skylights, automotive heating systems and other automotive products, as well as an important supplier of brilliance BMW. At the end of January, Weibaster confirmed that seven employees had been infected with novel coronavirus. The case investigated indicated that a 33-year-old male employee at Weibast Group headquarters who had been diagnosed with novel coronavirus had been in contact with a Chinese female employee who came to the company's headquarters for vocational training activities. The Chinese female employee is from Shanghai and arrived in Wuhan before going to Germany for training. Affected by this, the headquarters and factory of Weibast in Germany were temporarily closed. Weibaster has 11 factories in China, and its largest factory in the world is located in Wuhan.

According to the China Business Daily, an employee of Dongfeng Honda was diagnosed with COVID-19. The employee said on the social platform that he had symptoms such as cough, high fever and dyspnea and was successfully hospitalized. The person in charge of Dongfeng Honda responded that he was learning the situation.

In addition, Dongfeng Honda, which has three plants in Wuhan, has confirmed that the plant is closed and has further delayed the resumption of work until February 13. A Honda spokesman also said Honda will follow the policy of the local government and has not yet decided when to resume the plant.

It is said that brilliance BMW extended its holiday again because of the safety and health of its employees and their families. If so, this should be the decision of the enterprise out of careful consideration, but it is inevitable that the stagnation of production and operation will cause greater losses.
