AutoBeta(AutoBeta.net)03/25 Report--

General Motors recently announced that it will invest $300 million (about 2.015 billion yuan) to produce a new electric vehicle at its Orion Township plant in Michigan, USA, which will be based on the Chevrolet pure electric model Bolt. It is worth mentioning that the production base of the car is Orion Township Factory. This new electric vehicle model will be mainly aimed at the Chinese market in the future.

It is understood that Chevrolet Bolt is a hatchback pure electric small car launched by General Motors in 2016. In terms of power, the LG battery of 60kWh is used, the EPA comprehensive range is 383km, and the acceleration time from 0-100km/h does not exceed 7 seconds.

Given that Chinese consumers seem to prefer the Buick brand, the new model could also be built into an all-electric version of Buick Encora in the future and then introduced into China. GM also plans to launch an all-new BEV3 electric vehicle platform in the future.

Michigan will create 400 new jobs as a result of the $300 million investment, officials said, as part of GM's overall plan to invest $1.8 billion in U.S. manufacturing.
