AutoBeta(AutoBeta.net)02/12 Report--
In response to the new coronavirus pneumonia epidemic, the donation support action of automobile enterprises has lasted for nearly half a month, but it is still continuing. BMW, an earlier donation, announced today a donation of RMB 25 million yuan to fight the new crown pneumonia epidemic in Chinese society.
On February 12, BMW China and BMW Brilliance announced a further donation of RMB25 million to fight the new crown pneumonia epidemic in Chinese society. The donation was donated to China Population Welfare Foundation through Health Angel_Health Volunteer Action, which was used to purchase medical equipment urgently needed by Wuhan City and other municipal hospitals in Hubei Province, such as monitors and non-invasive ventilators; at the same time, it funded the opening of the first national psychological counseling hotline, which was dedicated to serving brave medical staff, patients and volunteers fighting in the national anti-epidemic front line.
In fact, this is the second donation after BMW's first donation of 5 million yuan on January 26. So far, BMW China and Brilliance BMW have donated 30 million yuan accumulatively.
In response to the epidemic, Mr. Gao Le, President and CEO of BMW Group Greater China, and Dr. Wei Lande, President and CEO of BMW Brilliance Automobile Co., Ltd., jointly expressed: "All employees, dealers and partners of BMW in China pay their highest respect to the vast number of medical staff who risk their lives every day to protect us and fight hard on the front line of anti-epidemic. They are doing extraordinary things. They are heroes who fight the epidemic retrograde. As a member of Chinese society, we salute them, we are with the Chinese people! We firmly believe that the Chinese people will successfully meet this unprecedented and severe challenge. We firmly believe that the Chinese government is closely linked to all sectors of Chinese society and that this great country will overcome the epidemic."
BMW China and Brilliance BMW said they would closely track the development of Chinese society in fighting the epidemic and continue to contribute to Chinese society while ensuring further proactive epidemic prevention measures for BMW employees.
In addition to BMW's attention and donation to the epidemic, a number of foreign employees engaged in BMW Brilliance Shenyang factory recently spontaneously recorded a video to cheer for China and express their love for China.
In this 2-minute and 45-second video, 27 BMW Brilliance foreign employees from Germany, Austria, Britain and other nationalities leave the country, and each of them uses the shortest words to announce to the world: "I'm in China!" (I'm in China) Come on, China!"
In fact, affected by the new coronavirus epidemic, BMW is also affected by the epidemic delayed return to work one of the car enterprises.
At the beginning of February, BMW Group announced that its Brilliance BMW Dadong plant and Tiexi plant in Shenyang, China would extend their holidays until February 9, but as the epidemic failed to be brought under control, Brilliance BMW decided to postpone the resumption of work again and tentatively resume the opening and operation of the plant and office on Monday, February 17.
According to BMW Brilliance, the extension of the holiday is due to the safety and health of employees and their families. Perhaps this is the final decision made by BMW out of careful consideration, and such a decision inevitably brings greater losses under the stagnation of production and operation. Previously, Brilliance BMW said that the Brilliance BMW factory in Shenyang has about 18,000 employees, and the shutdown of the factory is accompanied by certain cost expenditure, which will bring a lot of economic losses to the factory.
BMW Group (BMW and MINI) sold 723680 vehicles in China in 2019, up 13.1% year-on-year, according to BMW's latest sales figures. BMW's sales figures also allowed it to overtake Mercedes-Benz and BMW and win the first place in sales of luxury brands in China in 2019.
