In 2020, the SUV market performed better than the overall passenger car market in the first month. Among the data released by the Federation of passengers, the total sales of domestic SUV models in January were 804000, down 14.5% from the same period last year, lower than the 20.4% decline in the passenger car market.

In the previous 15 car sales rankings, most of them achieved year-on-year growth, with Harvard H6 still at the top of the list, and Mercedes-Benz GLC sales of nearly 20, 000 units in the top five. It is worth noting that a total of five independent brands SUV appear on the list.

Great Wall's Harvard H6 dominates the SUV sales list, and its market position has not been shaken by its competitors for years, winning the top SUV sales title for 80 months in a row, but its position has been shaken.

According to the data, the Harvard H6 scored 25582 vehicles in January, down 41.4% from a year earlier, second only to Volkswagen Tuguan L in the top 15 rankings. Changan CS75, which rose to second place, sold 24863 vehicles that month, a year-on-year increase of 54.9 per cent and a gap of just over 700m from the Harvard H6. Changan CS75 family benefits from the listing of CS75 PLUS, further enrich the product lineup, the current market performance is OK.

It is worth mentioning that in addition to the above two independent brands SUV, Geely Boyue, Chuanqi GS4, Roewe RX5 and Harvard M6 appear on the list, and independent brands account for 40% of the top 15 rankings. Among them, Boyue sold 22000 vehicles that month; GAC MOTOR GS4 rose to 16800 in January after the replacement; and the Roewe RX5 and Harvard M6 were about 15000.

In terms of joint venture SUV, Dongfeng Honda CR-V won third place with 22300 vehicles, up 42 per cent from a year earlier. Even if this generation of CR-V in the initial launch of the brake door, throttle incident, but its good product strength, brand influence, coupled with the late terminal concessions to further help it improve sales.

A striking bright spot on the SUV list in January was the Mercedes-Benz GLC, whose sales jumped to 19000 vehicles that month, up 54% from a year earlier and ranked fifth. As a luxury SUV with a price of 39.28-587800 yuan, it is also amazing to sell nearly 20, 000 units a month. It is reported that Mercedes-Benz GLC terminal concessions increased, leading to a rise in sales.

The three SUV models under the Volkswagen brand performed well, with Tanyue selling 17000 vehicles in January, surpassing SAIC-Volkswagen Tuguan L's 15400 vehicles, while Tuyue also achieved 15000 vehicles. At present, the compact SUV launched intensively by Volkswagen still has a good market performance, and it can be seen that Volkswagen brand awareness and influence are still beyond the reach of many joint venture brands.

FAW Toyota's new RAV4 has been on the market for three months, with sales rising slightly month by month, with sales of 13700 vehicles in January, up 22% from a year earlier.

Judging from the list of SUV sales in the first 15 days of January, independent brands give play to their advantages in this segment, mainly promoting compact-grade products, accounting for 40% of the market. The rest of the rankings are divided by German and Japanese, while American, legal and Korean systems are not on the list. As the luxury car market continues to grow against the trend and prices gradually decline, hot-selling luxury models such as the Mercedes-Benz GLC are expected to continue to be frequent customers on the list.
