AutoBeta(AutoBeta.net)02/17 Report--

The Berlin-Brandenburg High Administrative Court in Germany said on the 16th that it had made a ruling at the request of environmental protection groups, asking Tesla of the United States to suspend the felling of a forest in the early stage of the construction of a local factory.

Tesla CEO Musk announced last November that he would build a super factory in Glenhead, Brandenburg. It will be Tesla's first super factory in Europe and Tesla's fourth in the world. When completed, it will produce 500000 cars a year. The factory is seen as an important step for Tesla to enter Europe, where Tesla had built 500 super charging piles by the end of last year.

In December, Tesla signed a contract with Germany to build the Tesla super factory in Berlin, covering an area of about 740 acres (2.99sq km). The site is the film's wide forest. Tesla had to cut down a large number of trees in order to build a factory in Glenhead. Musk promised to plant more than three times as much forest as compensation, but the local ecosystem was still seriously affected.

Although Tesla encountered many obstacles to building a factory in Berlin, Tesla also obtained permission from the Brandenburg Ministry of Environment to cut down a 92-hectare forest in the area where the factory is located.

The action was hindered by environmental protection organizations and local people, who applied to the Frankfurt-upon-Ode Administrative Court in Germany for Tesla to stop deforestation immediately. But environmental groups failed to stop Tesla from cutting down the forest, and the court rejected the environmental group's application on the 14th of this month. Tesla's plan to build a factory in Berlin poses a threat to the local ecological environment and wildlife, but it also creates great opportunities for the region and the country, including jobs and additional revenue, weighing the pros and cons, the court said.

The environmental protection group did not stop its opposition to Tesla's construction, and submitted a new motion to the High Administrative Court of Brandenburg in Berlin, saying that logging had many negative effects on the environment. The Berlin-Brandenburg High Administrative Court said on the 16th that it agreed to the application of environmental protection organizations and asked Tesla to stop logging temporarily.

At present, the ruling is still valid, which means that Tesla's logging activities in the local factory have been suspended. However, following the injunction issued by the Brandenburg High Administrative Court, the court will also make a final decision on the fate of Tesla's German factory in the near future.

Tesla said earlier that the Berlin super factory would break ground in the first half of this year and complete construction and production in July next year. Now that the administrative court has issued an injunction on Tesla's deforestation in the early days of building the factory, it is unknown whether Tesla's plan to build a factory in Berlin can proceed as promised, and Tesla has not yet responded to the court's ruling.

Tesla, as the leading enterprise of electric vehicles, its external expansion is constantly going on. Musk has said he hopes to build a Tesla super factory on every continent in order to drive the company to achieve higher and faster growth.
