The authoritative "Consumer report" released the ranking of automobile brands in 2020, and finally obtained the best and worst car brands of the year through its exclusive tests and membership survey data. Porsche surpassed Subaru to first place in the annual rankings, while Genesis remained in second place. Tesla's rating jumped eight places from a year ago, the biggest increase among car brands, while Honda's high-end brand Acura suffered the biggest decline, falling eight places.

Porsche ranked first in the Consumer report this year, with a score of 86, surpassing Subaru, which ranked third, while Subaru's score remained unchanged. Hyundai's high-end brand Genesis ranks second, with a score of 84. Consumers reported that after testing and investigating the models of the above three major brands, they all made recommended ratings and scored high, among which Subaru Forest Man and Lishi entered the list of the top ten recommended cars.

This was followed by Mazda with 79 points in fourth place, Toyota's luxury brands Lexus and Audi with 77 points, Hyundai and BMW with 75 points, and Kia and BMW's Mini with 74 points each.

Tesla, Toyota, Lincoln and Infiniti also scored 73 points, with Tesla jumping eight places from a year ago, the biggest increase among 33 car brand manufacturers. It is worth noting that Tesla Model 3 was among the top 10 recommended cars for the first time since its launch in 2018, and Model 3 was rated as the "first choice" among vehicles priced between $4.5 billion and $55000.

"the reliability of Tesla Model 3 and Model S has been significantly improved," the Consumer report said. This is enough to really improve their brand score, more than any other brand in our survey. After the production of the Tesla factory has stabilized, the quality of the Model 3 manufactured since the middle of last year has been significantly improved. The Consumer report also believes that Model 3 provides an amazing driving experience and high-tech environment, but the magazine expressed concern about Model 3's optional autopilot system that drivers may mistakenly think it is safe to drive.

Of the top three US carmakers, Ford's high-end brand Lincoln ranks the highest, scoring 73 points, ranking 13th alphabetically, excluding juxtaposition, while Ford slips to 23rd place. GM's Chevrolet and GMC ranked 25th and 26th, respectively. Chrysler scored 69 points, rising to 18th place.

Honda's Acura brand fell eight places compared with the previous year, with the biggest decline among car brands, with a score of 66, and only one of the five cars tested by Consumer reports was recommended.

The Consumer report ranked Fiat as the worst brand, with a score of 43, second only to Mitsubishi and Jeep. At the same time, including GMC, Alfa Romeo, Jaguar, Cadillac, Land Rover and other brands, all scored less than 60 points. The eight brands have a total of 36 models, of which only one is recommended by the Consumer report: the Jeep Grand Cherokee.

The second biggest winner was Subaru, who won two seats. General Motors, Ford and Fiat Chrysler, the three established American automakers, were not selected.

As a non-profit evaluation magazine sponsored by the American Consumer Union, Consumer report has never received advertisements since it was published in 1936. It is one of the most trusted neutral car evaluation agencies in North America. It issues annual reports based on road tests, reliability data, owner satisfaction surveys and safety performance, buys all the cars to be tested on its own, and does not accept promotional funds from any carmaker. Because of the comprehensive and meticulous evaluation of Consumer report, many consumers use the results of the magazine as a reference to buy cars.
