There are two stages: national 6a and national 6b, which are scheduled to be implemented in 2020 and 2023 respectively. Its China 6a phase will be officially listed in July this year, and light vehicles with sales and registration should meet the restrictions of national 6a.

In addition, the implementation of the sixth national standard also led to increased inventory pressure on dealers, even if the promotion of national five models still can not be sold, resulting in the early warning index of dealers for a long time higher than the early warning line.

Under the background that the sixth national standard is about to be fully implemented, coupled with the adverse impact of the epidemic, China's automobile industry has been hit by a new round. According to the China Automobile Association, China's automobile production and sales in January were 1.783 million and 1.941 million respectively, down 24.6% and 18% respectively from the same period last year.

The auto industry's nightmare will be concentrated in February, when retail sales by passenger car manufacturers plunged 92% year-on-year in the first half of February, according to the latest FIFA data. In order to promote automobile consumption and alleviate the impact of the epidemic in the car market. Wang Bin, deputy director of the Market Operation Department of the Ministry of Commerce, said that the Ministry of Commerce, together with relevant departments, studied and introduced policies and measures to further stabilize automobile consumption to reduce the impact of the epidemic on automobile consumption. At the same time, all localities are encouraged to introduce measures to promote the consumption of new energy vehicles, increase the purchase restrictions on traditional vehicles, and trade in old cars for new ones in accordance with local conditions, so as to promote automobile consumption.

The proposal of the China Automobile Association to delay the implementation of the sixth year is not an effective strategy in terms of long-term development. However, for the current car market, it may be able to bring some turnaround for car dealers and automakers.
