AutoBeta(AutoBeta.net)02/25 Report--

With the development of Lexus in recent years, sales are also rising, reaching an all-time high in 2019, with a total of 765300 vehicles sold worldwide, up 10 per cent from the same period last year.

In terms of specific Lexus sales, sales have indeed been rising since 2017, but mainly due to the effect of rising Lexus sales in China, which doubled in just three years, accounting for nearly 30% of Lexus's total sales.

At the same time, the US market, Lexus's largest single market, has seen four consecutive years of declining sales, selling 298000 vehicles in 2019, down only 0.1 per cent from 2018. But its share of the US luxury car market has fallen from the highest 18.2 per cent to 13 per cent, the lowest since 2013.

Lexus, on the other hand, blamed the decline in sales in the United States on the lack of product replacement, and even in 2019, the 30th anniversary of the Lexus brand, Lexus did not release any new models, resulting in an aging lineup and increased competition, resulting in its own brand unable to keep up with consumer demand for products in the United States, including more large sports SUV models.

It means that Lexus will change and replace many of its models. A few days ago, a product plan for Lexus 2021 and 2022 was exposed. In addition to some of the models already on the market, Lexus will also make changes to electric models, including a fuel-cell car currently being tested by Toyota with a Lexus casing, which is speculated to be an all-new Lexus model.

According to the product plan exposed by Lexus, almost all models under Lexus will be modified and replaced, including IS, ES in the car market segment, UX, NX, RX and LX in the LS,SUV market. Among them, the revamped models include the new flagship models LS and medium-sized sedan ES, which were launched in 2018, and the compact SUV UX, which was launched in 2019, while the replacement models include the IS, a medium-sized sedan, which has been on the market for many years, and three earlier SUV models. However, the product update dates from 2021 to 2022, which means there is still some time before Lexus can actually launch a new model.

In fact, some Lexus models have been on the market for some time, such as the midsize sedan IS, which went on sale in 2013, nearly seven years ago, with only one minor change, while the medium-sized SUV has not been changed since it was launched in 2014. Compared with the classic Lexus RX model, it was only slightly modified last year; as the flagship model of the Lexus SUV market, the LX is still designed in 2015.

It is worth noting that the GS, a classic medium-and large-sized car owned by Lexus with a history of nearly 30 years, is not included in this product planning, which is in line with the news that GS will stop production in September this year, and there may be no car succession.

Although the current lineup of Lexus models is still relatively old, and there is still some time for the replacement of new models, from the point of view of Lexus sales in recent years, it does not have much impact and still maintains a growth trend. among them, the market heat is unabated, even under the "price increase" public opinion, it still keeps rising results. Even for the Chinese market, Lexus also set the first flagship MPV model LM in China, which shows that Lexus attaches more importance to the Chinese market.
