AutoBeta(AutoBeta.net)02/25 Report--
After the French PSA Group's upscale brand DS released the trailer of the new car earlier, on the 24th it officially released the official map of the new flagship model-DS 9. The new car is located in a medium-sized sedan and will only be produced in Chinese factories and sold to the global market in the future.
DS 9 is based on the EMP2 modular platform of PSA Group and is the product of the same platform as Peugeot 508. Although the Changan Peugeot Citroen joint venture has been dissolved, according to the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the car is still produced by Changan Peugeot Citroen Motor Co., Ltd., which means that DS 9 will be put into production at the Shenzhen plant and is scheduled to be officially listed in the second half of 2020.
DS 9 continues the unique design of the PSA Group, with a woven mesh texture in the family hexagonal grille, headlights connected to the front grille and turn lights on both sides. The design of "tear eyes" on both sides is similar to that of Peugeot 508 fangs. What is special is that in the center of the hood is a long strip of metal decoration, highlighting the exquisite design of the legal system.
In fact, the overall body ratio of the DS 9 is very close to that of the Peugeot 508, and the two have a lot in common from the side view, especially the rear window. DS 9 length / width / height is 4933mm/1855mm/1468mm, wheelbase is 2895mm, is a standard medium-sized car.
The rear of the DS 9 is also highly recognizable, with a diamond-shaped taillight group style. the new car's taillights are connected by chrome strips in the middle, while the strips under the taillights extend to the sides of the tail, which officials say is a classic design to pay tribute to.
DS 9 offers two styles of interiors, with black interiors with a large area of Alcantara and brown interiors covered with leather. The overall interior design continues the unique style of the DS brand.
Part of the configured model DS 9 is equipped with L2 driving assistance system, which can realize adaptive cruising, lane departure assistance and disguised assistance in 180km/h. At the same time, the new car is also equipped with driver fatigue monitoring, automatic parking assistance and night vision functions.
In terms of power, the DS 9 will be equipped with a plug-in hybrid system. The new car's power system is based on a 1.6T engine with a total power of 228hp, with a pure electric range of 40-50km under WLTP conditions and an eight-speed automatic transmission. In the future, DS 9 will also launch a high-performance version of 253hp and 365hp + all-wheel drive.
Due to poor sales and long-term losses, Changan Peugeot Citroen has basically been dissolved and the joint venture company has been sold to Baoneng Automobile to take over. Wang Chao, director of corporate communications for China and Southeast Asia of PSA Group, has revealed that after the change in the share structure of Changan Peugeot Citroen, the DS brand plans to continue to produce DS cars at its Shenzhen factory.
The development dilemma of the DS brand in China has always existed, and the products with design as the selling point are finally left with marketing slogans. Some netizens think that it may be caused by the difference between brand promotion and Chinese aesthetics.
Data show that from January to October 2019, the cumulative sales of DS in China were only 2030.
