AutoBeta(AutoBeta.net)02/25 Report--

Mercedes-Benz shock absorber fracture has a long history, due to design defects led to shock absorber fork head fracture, last year, under the investigation of the State Administration of Market Supervision and Administration, Mercedes-Benz finally implemented a large-scale recall, involving E-class and C-class cars, a total of more than 660000 cars. Mercedes-Benz's solution is to "patch" and install the shock absorber to strengthen the firmware. Now, a new batch of E-Class cars are in urgent need of recall.

The State Administration of Market Supervision and Administration issued a recall notice on February 25. Mercedes-Benz (China) Automobile sales Co., Ltd. filed the recall plan with the State Administration of Market Supervision and Administration in accordance with the requirements of the regulations on the recall of defective Automobile products and the measures for the implementation of the regulations on the recall of defective Automobile products. A total of 1531 imported E-class two-wheel drive vehicles produced from May 31, 2018 to January 24, 2019 will be recalled from March 27, 2020.

The reason for the recall is that when the front shock absorber of the vehicle is impacted by a large external force, it may cause damage to the shock absorber and deformation and bending of the shock absorber fork head, and even cause the bushing of the lower control arm of the vehicle to protrude, which in extreme cases may lead to the fracture of the shock absorber fork head. There is a safety risk.

The solution is that Mercedes-Benz (China) Automobile sales Co., Ltd. will install front shock absorber reinforcements (improved lower control arm bushings, shock absorber spring upper gaskets, buffer blocks and other reinforcement components) on recalled vehicles free of charge to eliminate safety risks.

The vehicles were recalled again because of problems with the Mercedes-Benz data system. It is understood that this recall belongs to the "Mercedes-Benz (China) Automobile sales Co., Ltd., Beijing Mercedes-Benz Automobile Co., Ltd. recalled some imported C-Class and domestic C-Class and E-Class two-wheel-drive cars" issued on May 27, 2019. Due to the producer data system, some imported vehicles are not included in the scope of the first recall.

Before and after three recall notices, Mercedes-Benz has recalled a total of 667725 E-class and C-class cars due to broken shock absorbers.

The details include--

(1) some domestic E-class two-wheel drive vehicles produced from February 25, 2016 to March 13, 2019, totaling 299780.

(II) some domestic C-class two-wheel drive vehicles produced from May 23, 2014 to June 17, 2017, and some imported C-class two-wheel drive vehicles produced during the period from December 12, 2014 to August 22, 2016, totaling 271716.

(3) some imported E-class two-wheel drive vehicles produced from November 29, 2018 to September 11, 2019, totaling 2873.

(4) some domestic E-class two-wheel drive vehicles produced from October 29, 2018 to October 27, 2019, totaling 91825.

In fact, the frequent quality recalls of Mercedes-Benz in recent years have plunged the brand into a storm of public opinion. Frequent recalls mainly reflect two problems: one is the relatively responsible attitude of enterprises towards products and users; the other is that the risk of product quality instability is high, and there are also problems in quality control. It is worth noting that in some of the recalls, Mercedes-Benz did not apply on its own initiative, but complained by users and urged enterprises to carry out the recall under the investigation of the State Administration of Market Supervision and Administration.

According to the data, Mercedes-Benz delivered a total of 702088 new cars in the Chinese market in 2019, an increase of 4% over the same period last year and breaking the 700000 mark for the first time.
