AutoBeta(AutoBeta.net)03/02 Report--
Polestar Polar Star, Volvo's high-performance electric vehicle brand, announced today that the president of the brand in China will be Mr. Gao Xing, and Mr. Wu Zhenhao, former president of Polar Star China, will be transferred to Volvo Asia Pacific, responsible for strategy and business coordination. The appointment time will take effect on March 16, 2020.
It is understood that as the new president of Star China, Gao will be fully responsible for the business of Star in China, including further strengthening the brand building of Star, accelerating the experience and network development of Polestar Space, establishing a marketing management and customer service system under the direct sales model, and making adequate preparations for the 2020 year of delivery of Star products. Its work at the Star brand will report directly to Mr. Thomas Thomas Ingenlath, CEO of the Star brand.
According to the data, Mr. Gao was the senior director in charge of group sales planning of Volkswagen Group (China). Previously, he has held senior management positions in sales, dealer network development and other brands such as Volkswagen and Bentley, and has rich practical experience in the entry of new brands into the Chinese market.
Wu Zhenhao, the former president of China, joined the company on March 1, 2018 to replace Shen Feng, who went to Xilai, meaning that the brand, which has been established for less than three years, has replaced the president of China twice.
Prior to this, Wu Zhenhao has been the vice president of the Asia-Pacific Product Department of Volvo Automotive Group, mainly responsible for Volvo's local products, specifications, pricing and all automotive product line management operations in the Asia-Pacific region. He was also the head of the commercial project for Volvo 60 series products.
The Polestar brand, known as "Polar Star" in Chinese, was officially independent by Volvo on October 17, 2017 to position the electric high-performance car brand, which is actually equivalent to the AMG of Mercedes-Benz and the M of BMW, and also represents Polestar's ambition to be in the vanguard of electrification in the automotive industry.
Coupled with the Polestar 3 announced a few days ago, the brand currently has only three models, with the first two models named Polestar 1 and Polestar 2 respectively. Among them, the Star 1 is a two-door four-seater GT coupe priced at 1.45 million, with a "electric high-performance hybrid" drive system with a range of up to 135km (NEDC) in pure electric mode, with an annual production limit of only 500. all vehicles will be provided by custom lease. And the appearance is also the continuation of a lot of Volvo design, just to hang the Volvo logo.
Because Volvo has so little publicity about the brand, many people don't know about it. In fact, as early as August 2019, Polar 1 began mass production at the Chengdu production base and entered small-scale delivery at the end of last year. As a result, Polar 1 has also become the "most expensive domestic car".
And its second model, which is also its first pure electric model, is positioned as a five-door hatchback luxury pure electric high-performance sedan with a range of 500 kilometers and 408 horsepower. However, the car is not yet on the market, and according to official plans, the new car will begin mass production at the road and bridge factory in Taizhou, Zhejiang province at the beginning of this year and will be delivered in the first half of this year at a price of 418000.
The third model is still planned and is positioned as a four-door GT sedan. The new car was originally scheduled to be unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show, which opens on March 3 this year, but the Geneva Motor Show has officially cancelled the show, meaning the "meeting" of the model will be postponed.
From the independence of the star brand to its launch, we can see that Volvo has a great vision for the electrification transformation of the brand, hoping to create a purer, radical and futuristic electric car through the star. However, with the rapid development of the field of electric vehicles, Volvo has to accelerate its progress and strategy. After all, with the rapid rise of more and more powerful electric car companies such as Tesla, the Star brand will bear more challenges.
