AutoBeta(AutoBeta.net)03/03 Report--
According to the global electric vehicle sales data recently released by EV Sales, the number of electric vehicle registrations worldwide reached 150613 in January, down 7% from a year earlier and the seventh consecutive month of decline. Regionally, although the European market showed triple-digit year-on-year growth, it still could not offset the downturn in the Chinese market. Affected by the COVID-19 epidemic in China, the electric vehicle market has had a bad start this year, and sales of electric vehicles are expected to resume growth in the second half of the year with the end of the epidemic, the website said.
According to the ranking of car sales, the top three are BMW, Tesla and Renault, accounting for 9 per cent, 8 per cent and 7 per cent of the global market, respectively.
In January, BMW topped the list of electric vehicle manufacturers in January with 12976 vehicles, up 128 per cent from a year earlier, as BMW accelerated its push for new energy vehicles. In second place is Tesla, who sold 12779 cars in January, just 197 behind BMW, and should be able to return to the top with a little effort in February. In third place is French car company Renault, which sold 10053 vehicles in January, selling tens of thousands of vehicles for the first time, an increase of 144%. In addition, Volkswagen Group has three brands in the top 20, namely Volkswagen (9710), Audi (5890) and Porsche (2752).
Affected by the epidemic and the Spring Festival holiday, Chinese brand car companies have performed less optimistically this year, with BYD and SAIC ranked sixth and seventh, while BAIC and Geely ranked 19th and 20th. The biggest drop in the rankings should be BAIC, which sold only 2451 vehicles in January, falling to 19th place from third last year.
In terms of specific models, Tesla Model 3 still ranks first, whose sales reached 10013 in January, an increase of 37% over the same period last year, and has topped the global electric vehicle list for 12 months in a row. However, Tesla's Model 3 grew year-on-year, while its Model X and Model S declined, with January sales down 19 per cent and 32 per cent, respectively.
In second place was Renault Zoe, which sold 9873 vehicles in January, compared with Tesla's Model 3, which put a lot of pressure on Tesla.
Volkswagen Group has three models on the list, namely, the Passat e-Golf (4108), the Volkswagen PHEV (3833) and the Audi e-tron (3128). The BMW Group also has three models shortlisted, namely, the fourth BMW 530e/Le (4686), the 10th BMW 330e (2365) and the 20th BMW i3 (2106).
In terms of Chinese brands, among the top 20 electric car sales in January, SAIC Mingjue Ei5 EV (3068), Guangzhou Automotive Aion S (13th), SAIC Roewe ZS EV (2332) and FAW Pentium B30 EV (2161) ranked 11th. It is worth noting that none of the best-selling BYD and BAIC models are on the list.
In January this year, total car sales in China were 1.94 million, down 18% from the same period last year. Of this total, sales of new energy vehicles fell 54 per cent year-on-year to 44000. So far, China's automobile market has declined for 19 consecutive months compared with the same period last year, and new energy vehicles have declined for 7 consecutive months compared with the same period last year.
As far as the Chinese market is concerned, the weakness of the automobile market, the decline of subsidies for new energy vehicles and the impact of the COVID-19 epidemic have led to unsatisfactory sales. China's auto market will usher in a new round of decline in February this year. The European market will show more obvious growth.
