On January 24th Evergrande bought a 58 per cent stake in Shanghai Carney New Energy for 1.06 billion yuan, making it a major shareholder. Shanghai Carney New Energy Co., Ltd. (CENAT) is a Sino-foreign joint venture company jointly funded by China Automotive Technology Research Center (CATARC) and Japan English time Co., Ltd. (ENAX). It specializes in the research, production and sales of power lithium-ion batteries.
