AutoBeta(AutoBeta.net)03/26 Report--
China Baoyan announced the first batch of collision test models last year, which caused great repercussions in the industry at that time, and the collision results of many models were terrible, but the results were much worse than those of overseas versions under the same standards, and the reduction and safety were hammered. On March 26th, the expected results of the second batch of models were announced.
Led by the China Insurance Industry Association and funded by eight property insurance companies, China Insurance Research is the only full member of the international organization RCAR in China, and the American Highway Safety Insurance Association, as we know it, IIHS is also a member of the organization. After several months of evaluation, CIRI officially announced the evaluation results of the second batch of models of China Insurance Automobile Safety Index in 2018.
The 11 models are all medium and low-end models, including Chirui Areze 5, Hyundai lead, Chuanqi GS7, Kia Zhi run, Skoda Kodiak, Toyota Yize IZOA, Zhongtai T600, Jianghuai Ruifeng S3, Buick GL8, BYD Song MAX and Nissan Sima, whose Sima is a voluntary application.
From the point of view of the results, the collision results are even worse than those of the previous batch, and the overall situation is not optimistic. Only Toyota Yize won the excellent, Kodiak, Zhongtai T600 and Sima can also be counted, the rest of the models are above and below the pass line. The worst is BYD Song MAX, whose collision safety is appalling.
Specifically, the evaluation content has four aspects, crashworthiness and maintenance economic index, in-car occupant safety, out-of-vehicle pedestrian safety, auxiliary safety, and there are also four kinds of evaluation results. it is divided into G (excellent), A (good), M (general) and P (poor).
This evaluation is very interesting. PICC Research announced "crashworthiness and maintenance economy" for the first time, which is the core of PICC Research. The first batch of models were not made public because of their poor results. I did not expect that the results of the second batch of models were even worse, almost all of them were marked red.
As a result, only Kodiak won G (excellent), Yize won A (good), T600 and Sima M (general), and the other seven models were the lowest rated P (poor).
In this test, the rear-end collision and rear-end collision are simulated at low speed in 15km/h, and the score of each car is obtained by calculating the deformation of the structure and the ratio of the maintenance cost after the collision to the guide price of the new car.
You may ask, what's the point of this? Collisions or scratches at lower speeds are often encountered in daily car life, and they are also expenses that insurance companies often have to pay. Under normal circumstances, working hours and spare parts prices are determined by manufacturers, and most of these collision costs are borne by insurance companies, so insurance companies have to take back the initiative. The lower the score, the greater the maintenance cost of the low-speed collision, which can be used as a reference for consumers to purchase cars. More importantly, the score will provide an important reference for the determination of vehicle insurance rates for various models and serve as an indicator for insurance companies to ensure profits.
For consumers, the structural safety under collision is of greater significance, which not only directly affects the safety of occupants, but also reflects whether a car is perfect and whether it is reduced or not. The "occupant safety index" includes four items: front 25% offset collision, side collision, roof strength and seat headrest. The first batch of models were rated as "average and poor" four models, the second batch rose directly to seven models, the overall safety has dropped another step.
As a result, only FAW Toyota Yize won the G (excellent) rating. Toyota's new model emphasizes safety, including active and passive safety. Yize is equipped with 10 airbags, which is one of the reasons why he can get a higher score.
Sima, Chuanqi GS7 and Zhongtai T600 got A (good) results, collision structural safety was in the upper-middle level of occupant protection, and many people were surprised that Zhongtai T600 had the highest performance of its own brand.
There are three problems to complain about: first, the results of the two domestic cars represented by Korean cars are not ideal, we should know that Korean cars are almost on the IIHS list in the United States, which is even higher than the safety evaluation of Japanese cars; second, Kodiak performed well in other aspects, only the crash test results were evaluated by M (general), continuing the nature of Volkswagen Tuguan L. Third, the independent brand BYD Song MAX unexpectedly ranked at the bottom, and its collision score was in the same level as Baojun 510, which was the two worst models among the two batches of models announced by China Insurance Research Institute.
BYD Song MAX is poor in all important tests such as low speed, side collision, small bias and so on. For example, in a small offset, after colliding with an undeformable rigid barrier at a speed of about 64km/h, the A-pillar is bent and the door is also deformed and bounced open under pressure, which means that the occupant cabin space has been squeezed.
In the side impact, the B-column also collapses seriously, whether the tearing phenomenon occurs remains to be officially announced, from the results, the overall structural strength is not optimistic. And another MPV Buick GL8, also lost a lot of points in the crash test.
Look at the five-star safety of the China Automotive Research C-NCAP, and then take a fancy to the Baoyan C-IASI, the gap is really some big, most models are showing their original shape. Low price is not an excuse for low strength, and there are many foreign brands whose safety has shrunk after being domestically produced. Under the same standard, it is hard to believe that these brands are not treated differently if they are either A-pillar deformed or B-pillar broken.
With the official release of more crash test charts and videos, we will have a clearer understanding of how these cars lost points.
