AutoBeta(AutoBeta.net)03/06 Report--

Fiat Chrysler (FCA) showed off a fully electric version of its 500e model on Wednesday, ignoring concerns about the novel coronavirus epidemic in Italy, Reuters reported.

The appearance of the new car uses the latest design language of the Fiat family, with a streamlined front design and a fully enclosed forward air grille, and the Fiat LOGO on the front face is also replaced by the 500e logo. In terms of size, the pure electric version of Fiat 500e is not much different from the fuel version, the length and width increase 60mm respectively, height and wheelbase increase 20mm respectively.

The interior of the new car has changed obviously, the dashboard is completely new, with a 10.25-inch central touch screen, and the steering wheel is designed with a new double-spoke styling, which makes the overall performance more upscale than the fuel version.

In terms of power, the Fiat 500 pure electric version is equipped with a 42 kWh battery pack and a single motor provides a maximum power of 118 horsepower. In terms of range, under the European WLTP standard, the mileage is 320km. Competing mini-electric vehicles include the Mini Cooper SE, which starts at 33900 euros in Europe, and Peugeot's eMui 208, which starts at 33600 euros.

Fiat Chrysler had planned to unveil the new all-electric Fiat 500e at the Geneva Motor Show, but the Geneva Motor Show was cancelled because of the epidemic. Fiat Chrysler then chose to hold a new car show in Milan. At present, as the number of confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Italy is increasing, there are concerns about the prevention and control of the epidemic in Italy, and the local government does not encourage holding large-scale rallies.

After the cancellation of the Geneva Motor Show, most car companies launched their new cars online. Many car companies were surprised when Fiat hastily held an offline show.

Because Milan is only 60 kilometers from the center of the outbreak in Italy, and many people are depressed, FCA's chief marketing officer said: "FCA is closely linked to Italy and Milan."

By March 15, Italy will close all primary and secondary schools across the country and consider further emergency measures, including the closure of cinemas, cafes and other places. As of the evening of March 5, local time, Italy reported that the number of confirmed cases of COVID-19 across the country had risen to 3927, with a total death toll of 148.
